Our defense stinks

No pass rush all day long against a suspect o-line. That is the one position that I think needs a major upgrade. We need a DT that can clog up running lanes and get pressure on the QB (Sapp looks mighty fine right now, would be an upgrade over Reagor, Williams, and even Triplett) Considering that Brady had enough time to eat a Big Mac back there, I think our DBs played well. They were left out there naked and still covered pretty well and made the tackle. Macklin had a good game except the TD that he bit on the play fake.

I was hoping for the best but fearing the worst. Injuries played a big part today and Bashir being out really hurt us. On the bright side, if we can upgrade and Middle linebacker and DT I think we are looking at a top 10 defense next year.

Throw in CB as a major need.

Stokes, Wayne, Harrison full strength will be splendid.

I agree Ryan, but not as major as MLB and DT. I think that Macklin, Harris, and Harper played well today considering they had no pass rush to help them and were having to cover receivers for 5+ seconds.

I doubt we will see a change at D-Coordinator. I think Dungy will probably be a little more hands-on with the defense next year though

re

Got to get two DT and a MLB.
Tripllett is fair, Reagor is OK
Brazte and Scollio are not DT, one of them need to go.
Got to get a MLB who can make plays

That's a stupid comment. There entire Dbackfield was hurt. The DL for whatever reason doesn't make any plays and we have Morris. Kornisdering all the time the D spent on the field due to the lousy Kick cover teams and INT's, I'd say Meeks had a spectacular day.

What's so frustrating about this loss is that there is no one to pin it on. And when I say pin it on I mean cut, release, fire etc. Manning cost us today but is the best in the game and shouldn't be going anywhere. The D gave us a chance to win today. That is all that I thought we would need. I still say this game was lost during the season when we lost to Jax and/or Carolina.

Just listen to me, guys!

Pick up a *good* FA DT (yeah..Reagor was OK, but we need a difference maker) not named Sapp.

Vilma 1st round. Trade up and get Vasher or Strait 2nd round IF they're there. We'll be top notch then.

Oh wait, Ol' Washington's a FA too this season. Hmm.....more question marks on D.

re

All year I have seen our LB in no man land on passes.
Not rushing the passer, not covering deep, like 3 yards behind scrimmage line.
Also how many times has a DL covered a reciever and gotten burned.
I hate that crap.
A change of Defense Cord. may not be a bad idea.
But a change on defense is needed.

Did our Defense only force 2 That's 2 punts in the last 8 Quarters of football? Something/Someone needs to be addressed in this situation

Right on, LV. Brady had all day to throw. And they kept burning us with draw plays, KC did that too. It was driving me fricking nuts.

That said, 4 INTs put the defense in some rough spots.

I am not really high on Meeks right now, but I don't think he is the problem.

On the negative side, any coach should be able to change their gameplan if what they're doing is not working. I don't see anything different happening during the game as we are still giving up big plays. You always hear Dungy saying its not the personel, the players are just missing their assignments. But isnt the coach's job to make sure his players are prepared and not missing the gaps. 2 years they've been in the system and are still missing assignments??

On the positive, Meeks is doing a better job than Fangio ever did. I think it is personel and the coaches just don't want to admit that their players stink. Give Meeks a MLB who makes plays and a pass rush and I think you will see a lot of improvement on defense.

It's easy to call out the D-coordinator in a game like this, but the defense kept us in the game. 5 turnovers on offense were the problem.
