Quip - Randy: "I wanna be something dead-you know, something morbid for Halloween." Brad: "A gangster." Randy: "Yeah, maybe a dead gangster-for sure."

Quip - Randy: "Halloween's my favorite day. We all decided to get dressed and hit it up and just have a blast."

Traditions - COSTUMES: Brad and Randy have to put in some craft time into their Mario and Luigi outfits. They dye their overalls but buy hands, mustaches, hats and shirts. Brad: "People are going to be like, 'That's the coolest costume I've ever seen-have some free shit.'" Randy: "'Thats the coolest costume I've ever seen-make sweet love to me.'"

Quip - Frankie: "Hey baby, Happy Halloween." Dave: (howls)

Costumes - Brad dresses as Mario and Randy dresses as Luigi. Randy: "Mario Brothers style."

Costumes - Frankie dresses up as Juliet and back home Dave dresses as her Romeo. Dave: "I hope you don't find a Romeo to match your costume. That would suck for me." Frankie: "Well, it would suck for me if you found a Juliet to match yours."

Costumes - Cameron dresses up like a girl in a gang. Cameron: "Do I look gangster enough?" Brad: "Yeah, that's straight as hell."

Costumes - Jamie dresses as Eve, no not the rap star, but from that book the Bible. Jamie: "I'm going to be Eve, you know, the biblical Eve, like Adam and Eve."

Costumes - Robin dresses as Marilyn Monroe.

Quip - Robin (to the boys): "That is the best costume I've seen in a while."

Quip - Randy: "It's Halloween you know, everyone's in costume and wasted. We're all having fun with each other."

Traditions - PUMPKINS: There are lots of pumpkins around the Real World house and on Halloween night, Brad and Randy decide to throw some of them into the ocean. Brad: "Ran, I think we should start the night off by firing a pumpkin off the balcony."

Quip - Brad: "Wow this costume was a smash hit."

Other costumes seen through the episode include - You can't really see a lot of the people around them when they go out because of all the blurring of faces but what I did see was a vampire, cat, diva, headless horseman and a bumble bee.

| | Dialogue To Die For | |

Frankie: "Tomorrow's a privilege. So live today like tomorrow isn't happening."

Frankie: "It's just like in the Wizard of Oz, if you didn't find happiness in your own backyard, then you never knew happiness at all.And I'm sure as hell not in Kansas anymore."

Frankie (over the phone): "That stuff is for some people and its just not for other people. It's just not what I'm about-I guess I'm...a little too punk rock for that kinda stuff, you know?"

Props: Maime's Shirt and Frankie's Mass Collection - Hello Kitty
Hello Kitty was first copyrighted in 1976 to the Japanese company Sanrio. She is a white cartoon cat with a bow on her head and the merchandise featuring her is most frequently pink. In recent years they've added punk rock Hello Kitty products that have become widely popular. Side note: I am dying to find that purse that Frankie carried around all the time, I just love it.

Brad: "That'd be funny to be Mario and Luigi."
The classic video game Mario Bro.s was released as an arcade game in 1983 and as a game for the Nintendo system in 1986. The purpose of the game is for Mario or Luigi to get rid of a bunch of turtles, crabs, fireflies and dragons to save the princess.

Brad: "I do find it romantic that Frankie's dressed up as Juliet and she's getting on a plane to be at her boyfriend's concert where he's gonna be dressed up as Romeo."
Romeo + Juliet is possibly William Shakespeare's most famous play and it is thought to have been first performed on January 29, 1595. It chronicles the tale of a boy and a girl from feuding families that fall in love despite the consequences.

Frankie: "It's just like in the Wizard of Oz, if you didn't find happiness in your own backyard, then you never knew happiness at all. And I'm sure as hell not in Kansas anymore."
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was first published in 1900 and was written by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W.W. Denslow. The initial success led to the publishing of 13 more Oz books and there have been several stage and screen adaptations as well. Most famously among them is the 1939 film featuring Judy Garland as Dorothy.

Character: Robin's Costume - Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe (6/1/1926 - 8/5/1962) was a film actress who's sultry screen presence and premature death made her an everlasting pop icon and sex symbol. Robin's costume is from one of the most famous images of Marilyn Monroe is from the 1955 film, The Seven Year Itch when she's wearing the white dress and it billows up from the draught though a grate.

This isn't very relevant, but Robin's platinum blonde Marilyn wig just didn't go with her skin color.

| | Misc Notes | |

Apparently, Frankie never auditioned for The Real World. The producers saw her from an open call for a show called 'Starting Over' and decided they wanted her for the Real World instead.

The stuffed shaggy dog that Frankie always carries is a present that Dave gave her before she left to do the show.

Halloween is Randy and Frankie's favorite Holiday.

Marilyn Monroe is both Robin and Frankie's favorite icon.

Jaquese was the only roomate not to dress up for Halloween, I guess he was just too hip hop for that.

Frankie had planned on making a trip home on Thanksgiving and bringing a camera crew with her.

At the reunion, Frankie explained that her comments about being "too punk rock" were meant to be sarcastic.

2 Punk Rock 4 This: The Real World San Diego Reunion's title came from the quote from this episode. You can also get a t-shirt at Frankie's Official Site that has the quote on it.

In the never before seen footage episode titled, The Shit They Should Have Shown, they feature more scenes from this episode where the entire group attends a Halloween party and are forced to leave in a hurry due to San Diego residents threatening them. Jamie: "These people are fucking nutty, lets go!" Apparently they were heckled and mocked by people at the party and Cameran was uncomfortable so the gang decided to leave. Jacquese: "Don't fucking walk up on me dawg, cuz you don't know me." While waiting for their taxi, a group of people surrounded the cab and were rocking it while chanting "Real World Sucks!"

Another never before seen bit from this episode that was shown in The Shit We Should Have Shown, was that Jamie had friends from her college in town on Halloween night.

Not on the never before seen show, but a bit of trivia is that this episode (and the one before it) was Frankie's mom's second trip to visit Frankie at the Real World. In an earlier episode they show Cameran eating some lasagna that Abby made but not that she was ever there.

In one of the photos above from MTV's Official Site, you see Robin and her boyfriend Mike who was not seen in the episode at all, but they dressed as a cutesy old-school hollywood couple. That photo and the one of the group at the airport are from Jamie's personal photo collection.

In October 1998, the Missouri Examiner did a story about local houses that decorated their lawns for Halloween and Frankie's family is one of the families they featured. It talks about how they started out by using old toilets making them look like monsters were coming out of them and how it grew from there. Frankie's mom also talks about how Halloween is her favorite holiday. Below are two pictures from their lawn that ran with the article, if you would like to read the whole story from Examiner.Net, I've posted it here because I can't direct link you to the Examiner Online Archives page.
