The Legend: Somewhere in the U.S. is a famed five story haunted house attraction that is so scary, they give you a full refund of what you paid to get in if you make it through the entire tour. The catch is, no one has ever been brave enough to complete it.

Fact or Fiction?: Fiction, unfortunately.

I first heard this at my school when I was 14 years old. I was told that this place was so scary that no one ever finished it but if you did, you'd get your entrance fee back. I was also told that the haunted house was somewhere in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas which I happened to live in the middle of. So, me and a few friends got a cool parent and drove around all night looking for this infamous attraction but never found it.

Come to find out, we weren't the only ones who drove all over looking for that haunted house. People of all ages in several states have done the same thing for years now. Stories of this haunted house have been told as local legends in Oklahoma, Georgia, Oregon, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

The story originated back around the mid 1980's and another variation of the tale was that there was a very high fee charged to get in but that there were a specific number of floors or levels and after completing each one, a specified dollar amount would be refunded. If you completed all of the levels, you would get back the entire amount you paid to enter. The catch, however, is that no one has yet managed to do this - the place has proved too frightening for those who've tried it so far. Some versions tell of a few visitors that reached the final level but never came out of the exit, supposedly their dead bodies were found later.

Since this rumor has become so popular, some haunted attractions are now offering a money back deal if you complete the tour of their haunted house. However, these houses aren't so scary that they can't be completed, they actually use a gimmick of some sort that make them unfinishable.
