Scat the Cat |
Teacher Tip October 2001 |
After sharing the story "Scat the Cat", review the colors mentioned in the story. Have the children cut out red, black, yellow, green, blue, and orange cats from colored construction. You may wish to use a reproducible cat and have the children color them the appropriate colors. Next, the chidren will paste each of the cats to the top of a white piece of paper. Have them filter through magazines and sale papers to find pictures the same colors. Write the color word at the bottom of the bage. Once all the pages are complete, the children will have a color book. It is recommended that this activity span over a few days unless the children know their colors very well. This activity is for Early Childhood Educators. It appears in "Stories for Early Learners: A Teacher's Guide" (Copyright 2001 by LeConte' C. Richardson). |
