Creative Play for 3-5 year-olds Beginning Theatre 9-12 year-olds
The objective of this workshop is to expose very young children to the elements of free play.  With the aid of music, simple props, and costumes, the children will be encouraged to explore environment, roles, familiar characters and imitate actions.  It is a non-stuctured play intended to stimulate the imagination and develop motor skills and awareness of space.  In short segments of time the children engage in a variety of activities intertwining theater games with their own creativity.  In some programs the students may be given the opportunity to create puppets or masks to accompany play activities..
Intermediate and older groups are exposed to the basic elements of theater.  An array of activities allow the participants to explore improvisation, pantomime, voice and diction, movement, and characterization.  The students learn stage positions, vocal exercises, breathing techniques, and character analysis strategies.  Individuals or small groups will be given the opportunity to read poems, stories, monologues, and short sketches for analysis and/or performance.

All workshops are recommended for at least 10 but no more than 30 participants at one time.

Creative Drama for 6-8 year-olds
Bibliography
Creative Drama is intended to enhance the primary child's ability to create story.  Dramatic exercises and games focused on voice and movement are used by the leader to guide the students' growth in creativity, imagination, improvisation, role play, pantomime and characterization.  The children also gain a deeper understanding of the story by analyzing each character's focus or objective.  From theses experiences, they present their own versions of familiar folktales, fairytales, or fables with modest props, costumes and masks designed and created by the young actors.
