Welcome To
"Carol's Collection"

Hello! I began constructing my website
on 5 December 1998. My interests are varied.
Currently, working on this homepage is what I'm enjoying.
I have a husband, one daughter and son-in-law,
two granddaughters, two brothers, one sister and
their families. I also have a large family of in-laws.
"Family" is very important to me and I am so blessed
to have a large, loving family.
Most of us live in northwest Louisiana, some in
northeast Louisiana. Others live in Texas, Maryland,
Virginia, Oklahoma, California, and Tennessee.

One of my interests is collecting poems
and I have quite a collection that I have saved
during the 50+ years I have lived.

My purpose for this website is to share with you
some of those poems. I have a page in memory of
my mother and father with some of our genealogy.
I also have a page of recipes and my page of links,
Great Sites to Visit.

If you find something useful, entertaining,
educational, or just thought-provoking,
then my purpose will have been served.

The first poem I want to share with you is
"The Visitor" by Perry Tanksley,
copied from his book, "A Gift of Love."

THE VISITOR

FOR YEARS EACH DAY AT SIX A.M.
HE WENT TO CHURCH AND BOWED HIS KNEE
AND MEEKLY PRAYED, "OH GOD, IT'S JIM."
AND WHEN HE'D LEAVE WE ALL COULD SEE
THE PRESENCE CAME AND WALKED WITH HIM.

AS JIM GREW OLD, THE CHASTENING ROD
OF YEARS LEFT HIM SO ILL AND DRAWN,
HIS PATH TO CHURCH IS NOW UNTROD;
BUT IN HIS ROOM EACH DAY AT DAWN
HE HEARS A VOICE, "OH JIM, IT'S GOD!"

CONSIDER WHY YOU CARE

This is a poem that was on a Soil Conservation publication for Soil Stewardship Week back in the 1970's. It has a very meaningful message in light of what happened to our country on September 11, 2001 when the Pentagon and the World Trade Center were attacked.

Hebrews 1:10-14
And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
They shall perish; but thou remainest;
and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up,
and they shall be changed:
but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
