| Current Projects: My main work is on the ontogeny, evolution, and palaeobiology of Upper Cambrian and Early Ordovician olenid trilobites, chiefly from Sweden, Denmark (Bornholm) - with colleagues P. Ahlberg, K. Mansson, C. Taylor and others - and Argentina, with F. Tortello. In Sweden these trilobites occur in countless numbers, in excellent preservation, and at all stages in ontogenetic development. Studies of the structure, ontogeny and optics of the eyes of olenids are being undertaken with B. Schoenemann. It is hoped that this work will provide an understanding of all environmental and biological factors, and their interplay, which affected the evolution of this very plastic group of trilobites during the Cambro-Ordovician. |
