FRAGILITY...

She flinches.
At every word, every noise
With fear in her eyes -
Her mistake again?

The tell her, he's sick
She should be more tolerant.
It's not her fault -
He says it is.

Her shoulders hunch,
Not good enough again.
Apologies forgotten -
Flooded by angry words.

Tries to hide -
Forced from her sanctuary.
At her back, it tumbles,
Crashes, like her.

She cries,
Tears of shame, belief
She's too stupid to be right.
Wrong again.

Writes for solace,
Pours heart onto paper.
Her soul, they cannot steal -
Cannot destroy.

Shadows close in,
Force her closer to breaking point.
A touch may shatter her,
So vulnerable.

Wants to scream -
Bite back, kick, punch.
Not revenge, but to show them
The pain.

Its all too much,
Watching every step
Don't want to go home -
Family values broken.

Fragility.
Her small world
So easily destroyed
By anger, by hate.

Love is gone
Remains, a brittle shell
Crumbles at a touch.
Fragile.
