Laurence Glazener, double bass, graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts and the Cleveland Institute of Music. His major teachers were principal players of the National Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Formerly the principal bassist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, his continuo playing and other solos are recorded on the Live from the Met videos and on the company’s recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, and Sony.

 

Mr. Glazener has appeared on the Great Performers at Lincoln Center series, the Met at the Met concerts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and on the Met Chamber Ensemble series at Weill Recital Hall. His participation in summer festivals includes Mostly Mozart, Ravinia, Chautauqua, Music from Music from Angel Fire, and the Windham Chamber Music Festival. He continues to be active with chamber music, commercial recordings, and in the symphonic realm, both in the New York area and in southwest Florida.  Laurence Glazener and Judith Yanchus live in Carmel, NY, and have been married for many years.
