OUR KENNEL
ABOUT US
I began in collies twenty years ago with a sable and white male. He was not a show dog but was the smartest dog I had ever owned. He was my friend , and no other could compare. Unfortunatley, his days with us ended all to soon. I was so broken hearted and wanted something to fill the void in my heart. I then adopted Willy. From there, my story of aquiring collies is much the same as everyone elses.
I wasn't bitten by the show bug until many years later, after I met my Husband. He would see the glow in my eyes as I would watch the dog shows on TV. He would ask me why I didn't show my dogs, and I would respond with, "I don't know how."
Needless to say, the next thing that would come out of the conversasion was, "That has not stopped you before."
So, guess what? I set out to purchase my first show dog.
I would watch the dog shows on TV in a different light, and read as many books as I could get my hands on, over and over.
I will never forget the feeling that I had when I entered my first show. I felt like I didn't belong, and I left that show saying
that I would never do that again.
As you would quess, my husband talked me into it again,
and I am happy that he did.
My kennel is named for my three son's.
Dustin, Dylan, and Drayton, thus,
Triple D Collies.
Both the Dustin and Dylan would accompany me to shows and help with everything. Dylan even dabbled with junior showmanship for a while.
Then the inevitable happened: Girls!
So, I no longer had helpers.
Now it is Drayton's turn. He currently helps mom in the daily care and training of all the collies & is the best friend to any and all puppies born here..
(The dogs know it's
treat time when Drayton is there)
As for my husband, he has been an inspiration for me, not to mention a big help with all that goes on here at......
