John Christophers cult trilogy about the Tripods and their Masters are still in this day and age a great read, and so is the prequel entitled When the Tripods came.
The television series that was made by the BBC in the mid eighties was also great, atleast as far as I'm concerned. It never got the same status as the books, mostly because series 3 never was made and therefor left the series unfinished.
But nevertheless the Tripods will always be remembered by me because I still remember how fascinated I was the first time I saw the three-legged machines on TV when I was about 8 or 9 years old.
