PETALS As we stared At the speckless sky Lying in the hands of the earth, You told me Stories of life Cruel, Heartless, Unforgiving Love..... The tone of your voice As you whispered that word Made my hear feel tight. Stories of lost loves, New one's found And lost again. You told me they turned you into A flowers petal's ...Love me, love me not, love me? I knew you Were teaching me about How other's treated you But I wonder if you were just Letting me know how to treat you And love you Without sheding petal's. J.Youngbluth June 4th 1992 |
CAST-IRON SOUL In my armor My cast iron soul I am safe. No stone, no violence No ill will can enter. It's frost bitten Black-rust colored coat Keeps me from me. It was once for protection Of pride and shame. Now it fits to tight I cannot get out Nothing can. J.Youngbluth 1994 |
Love Love is not like A butterfly Nor the tiny rose In the snow. But like the stinger Of a bee Who's sting still hurts Even after the bee is gone. A reminder of It's presence, Hoping and praying For the pain to cease, But it never does. J.Youngbluth (Written at work on a receipt tape.) |
