| WE ARE A BAND |
Out of the seething underbelly of the Adelaide band scene crawls... BaXteR! A four piece rock set with no fixed identity, BaXteR beats out a quasi pop sound that is bound to excite. Danny and Damian, having played together previously in various bands such as PINK UZI and HENRY'S BABY, met Paul in mid '99 through the legendary Tony who was looking for a backing band for his, "Nothing but the Tony" project. When it was decided that they weren't Tony enough for that band, the boys decided to follow a different path. Rachel was recruited from a local Karaoke bar to provide some vocal direction and was born. After a few months of prevaricating around the proverbial shrubbery, BaXteR finally made it's debut at the Heritage Hotel on Light Square, to a receptive crowd of surprisingly enthusiastic locals. No injuries resulted. Several gigs later, BaXteR have displayed an uncanny ability to be enjoyed in spite of their apparent lack of a clue, even winning their way into the BREAKERS BATTLE OF THE BANDS in July 2001. Unfortunately, nobody in the band thought that they would make the finals so they had made other plans. Pity, that. Rachel has now left Australia's sunny shores for the allure of Europe and the remaining BaXteR boys are currently looking for a new singer before they have to let Danny do all the vocals. ( Lord... don't let it come to that! ) A return gig with Fear & Loathing has been tentatively booked for November. |
| Well, many vocalist tryouts later, we finally pulled the plug on the beast called "BaXteR" after Mr Pauly decided to call it quits to concentrate on new musical pastures. Jojo, the last of our singers, also had to leave the lineup with feet which itched to travel... she currently is residing somewhere overseas... usually London, I think. Hi there Jo, if you read this. :o) Mr Pauly is currently playing with a nice rock 4 piece, SHIRTFRONT; Dazza and Danny have continued to forge sideways, having now hooked up with drummer, Adam, as a new project unfolds around them. Rachel continues to make inroads into the British Music Industry. |
