Tripwire was formed when Marshall White, guitar and vocals, and Steve Taylor, drums, started playing together in the Spring of 2001. They played local shows, parties, and other local events. In November of 2001, Nick Schober joined playing lead guitar, adding a new element to the band. In late November, Bill Hurrelbrink, playing bass, completed the band. The group practiced throughout the freezing temperatures of November and December focusing on writing and rehearsing material. On December 27, 2001, Tripwire stepped into the studio and recorded their first demo. The demo features all original songs, including 4 modern rock tracks as well as a slow piano ballad highlighting the bands variety. In January, Tripwire began playing local venues in Manhattan, KS. This is continuing through the late winter months into the spring as clubs in Manhattan, Lawrence and Emporia are booking Tripwire. Tripwire's music has been featured on The Wildcat 91.9 in Manhattan, KS during the student body presidential debates, and during The K-State Greek Variety Show in front of over 2000 students. Tripwire has also recieved airplay on The Local Show on The Wildcat 91.9, KSDB, as well as Slice of the Homegrown on 101.5 K-Rock, KMKF. |
