"I do remember my grandmother as a very capable woman who had many skills.
One of the things I remember clearly is watching her card wool, splice it and
knit lovely things. She did beautiful tailoring and sewing. I still have two
very fancy doll dresses she made for me when I was about 4 years old. She read
a great deal which was uncommon in those days especially for farm women. Her
husband Frank could neither read nor write.

Source Citations
1. There is a difference of birth dates
for Theresa, between 1861-1862. Her baptismal
certificate says 1861, her headstone says 1862. I will use the headstone date.
2. In speaking to Uncle George, his opinion is that Emil
died of a "Broken Heart" meaning that he was "involuntarily"
retired from his job, that he didn't understand the concept of retirement; he
felt he needed to keep working and when they retired him he didn't adjust.
3. There seems to be several different dates for Emil's
birth, anywhere from 1856-1858. I took the date on his headstone.
