Champ is my very lovable goofy golden retriever. As a pup he was into EVERYTHING causing trouble and being very sassy with his owners, I never dreamt that he would turn out as nice and as special of a dog as he is now. Champ is actually how I got involved in obedience training. As he seldom listened to my husband or I and bolted out the front door whenever he could for a fun "chase me around the neighborhhod game" I decided that some obedience classes at the local dog training club might do some good...the rest is history, I was hooked. I also feel very fortunate that we have him with us as he was the last pup left in the litter and the man that had put a deposit down on him just never came to pick him up! Too bad for that man and so lucky for us! Champ quickly became my ace agility and obedience partner doing things I never imagined that little sassy pup could be capable of! Champ and I earned the UD obedience title November 2004 on his 7th birthday and with that I think has rightfully earned a peaceful golden retirement! Champ was such a wonderful dog to start with, in obedience we went from Novice A thru Utility. And likewise in agility went from Novice A thru Excellent. Thank-you Champ for being so patient with me while I learned about training dogs! We lost Champ to Osteosarcoma in 08, he kept his upbeat tailwaggin temperament up to the very end, and there were so many times when I thought he must be misdiagnosed because I just couldn't believe it. Champ I hope there is lots of cheese to eat and water for swimming in doggy heaven for you. It is just not the same here without you. |
