The Reality Shoe

KINJA: "Everyone who is in the cast was called to London to participate in a BBC America reality show called "The Reality Shoe". The guys knew it was going to be something related to their interest in ladies wearing feminine backless shoes. However the girls were told it was merely a 'fashion' reality show. Hi, my name's Kinja and I am the series' Executive Producer. I run a One Shoe Page that links to other one shoe pages and includes stories, web sites and lots of photo links. I thought it would be interesting to pull together some of the major players in the world of 'one shoe' for one time only and see what would happen. I am going to be behind the scenes for most of the series but in the forefront, we got a superstar from the UK to be our Host. Well known for being 'Posh Spice' when she was a member of the Spice Girls and currently a spokesperson and model. She is also a mother and married to International Football star, David Beckham, I present to you, Victoria Beckham."

[Show Victoria walking across the stage from Stage left. She greets Kinja with a peck on the cheek and she takes the microphone from him. Kinja exits Stage right.]

KINJA: "Victoria today is wearing a Stuart Weitzman "Teeup' black slide  sandal from Nordstrom. Nordstrom and Stuart Weitzman are sponsoring upcoming tasks in future episodes of our show.

VICTORIA: "Thanks Kinja. What a good job you and the other webmasters do. I also appreciate your initiative in putting this show together. However up front, I also need to thank Zappos, the largest shoe store on the Internet, for being our primary sponsor and provider of many of the shoes that will be worn during the series. I also want to thank BBC America for taking a chance and promoting such a fascinating reality show.

We have some other people to introduce to you - they are our celebrity judges.
First of all, our Head Celebrity judge is Regis Philbin. No one has logged more hours in front of a Tele camera than this distinguished gentleman. He currently is the host of the popular syndicated show Live with Regis and Kelly. Let's welcome Regis."

[Regis greets Victoria with a peck on the cheek and has his own microphone as they stand together on the stage.]

REGIS: "Thanks Victoria. This promises to be an exciting series and I look forward to working with you, the whole staff and especially these two lovely ladies who are going to be Celebrity Judges. First of all, we welcome Sarah Jessica Parker who is best known for her Emmy-winning role as Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO Comedy hit, Sex and the City."

VICTORIA: "Has there ever been a bigger shoe-lover on the small screen? Throughout the series, Sarah Jessica will be wearing Manolo Blahnik's. Give a big welcome to Sarah Jessica."

[Sarah Jessica walks down the Stage left aisle barefoot from the back of the audience carrying her own microphone then stands next to Regis on stage.]

SARAH J: "Thanks Reege and Victoria!"

VICTORIA: "You want to tell us what your role will be on the show."

SARAH J: "I will be shadowing what we are calling 'Team Manolo' watching them and even providing some assistance. Some of their competitions are not clear-cut wins or losses and I will help determine the winner in some cases."

VICTORIA: "Thanks Sarah. Our other Celebrity judge is Drew Barrymore, international film star practically her whole life. Drew starred in the Cinderella-themed movie Ever After. Throughout the series, Drew will be wearing Jimmy Choo's. Let's welcome Drew."

[Drew walks down the Stage right aisle from the back of the audience barefoot carrying her own microphone then stands next to Sarah Jessica on stage.]

DREW: "Thank You Victoria."

VICTORIA: "Can you add to what Sarah Jessica already said about being a Celebrity judge?"

DREW: "Well, I will be shadowing 'Team Choo' and doing the same for them that Sarah Jessica is for 'Team Manolo'. I will add that I will always be wearing shoes by Jimmy Choo and smilarly, Sarah Jessica will be wearing Manolo Blahnik styles.

VICTORIA: "But right now, you're wearing nothing. There's a reason for that. Regis, how about explaining our audience participation game."

REGIS: "Okay, two lucky members of our studio audience will be outfitting Sarah Jessica and Drew with a pair of Fuschia 'Terin' slides that have been provided by the Two Lips Shoe Company in Sun Valley, California. Two Lips is providing shoes for an upcoming task in a future episode also. At this time everyone needs to look under their seat for a shoe. Two of you should have one taped underneath. When you find one, please take it off and come up here on stage."

[The cameras pan all around the audience showing everyone scrambling to find the shoes unde their seats. Quickly a man and a woman appear on stage, each bearing a shoe. At the same time, two stage assistants push out large vats, each with a lid on top covering the contents. Each vat is eight feet across and two and a half feet deep.]

REGIS: "The winner today will win a 1000 pound gift certificate form one of our sponsors, Zappos, the Largest Shoe Store on the Internet. The runner-up will get a 250 pound gift certificate."

VICTORIA: "Thanks Regis. [Directed to the contestants] "Please tell me your name and where you are from."

CONT #1/ANGIE: "My name's Angie Rader and I'm from Stratford_Upon_Avon in the County of Warwickshire."

VICTORIA: "Nice to meet you Angie. [rhetorically] I guess you're a bit of an expert of Shakespeare - that being the place of his birth. [turning to the next person] How about you?"

CONT #2/TRACY: "I'm Tracy Jameson and I'm from Maidstone in the County of Kent."

VICTORIA: "Nice to meet you too Tracy. [rhetorically] There's quite an Air Warfare Museum there if I recall."

REGIS: "Angie and Tracy, we need to first find out who you are playing for. Sarah Jessica and Drew wear a different shoe size. Let they try on your shoes and see which one fits whom."

[Angie and Tracy kneel down and hold their shoes down on the floor while Drew and Sarah Jessica try them on. They got it right the first try. Sarah and Drew step aside now each wearing one right shoe.]

VICTORIA: "Okay, Angie, you are looking for Drew's other Two Lips fuschia 'Terin' slide and Tracy, you are looking for Sarah Jessica's other Two Lips fuschia 'Terin' slide. Each of you will look in one of these vats. [The stage assistants remove the covers.] Each vat contains 6 dozen assorted Two Lips slides in six different colors. To make things more difficult, the whole vat has been filled with packing peanuts. There are a few fuschia-colored shoes but only one is the correct size and for the correct foot - on both cases the left. Regis, you can take it from here."

[The camera pans back to show everyone on the stage. Drew is standing with her bare foot flexed at the toes to keep her balance. Sarah Jessica is standing with her bare foot flat on the floor and her shod foot is pointed down about 6 inches behind her.]

REGIS: Okay, Angie and Tracy, stand behind this line. You may want to remove your shoes for this. [both kick off their shoes and place them behind them. Angie is wearing a dressy pair of 2 inch blue pumps with nylons and Tracy is wearing a pair of black loafer mules barefoot.] When I say 'Go' go to your vat and begin to look for your shoe. When you find one that is a candidate, run back to your celebrity and try it on. If it fits you win. If not, you must wait until any shoes you happen to throw out of the vat get thrown back in - that is something you will want to consider - how many shoes you throw out of the vat. On the mark, get set, GO!

[Angie and Tracy hurriedly lean over their vats and begin to look for shoes fuschia in color. Angie begins by trying to clear a hole in the vat so she can get inside it for better access. Tracy begins by kneeling ourside the vat and throwing shoes and peanuts all around. The audience as well as the celebrities on stage cheer them on. Angie find a a fuschia slide but it was right-footed. Tracy grabs a pink left-footed slide and before she could try it on Sarah Jessica's foot.]

REGIS: "That it is the wrong color. You now have to wait until the stage assistants places all the shoes you have thrown out back into her vat to proceed."

[A minute more goes by and Angie finally locates a fuschia slide that was left-footed and she made her way to try it on Drew.]

DREW: "Thank you Angie, it's a perfect fit!">

SARAH J: "What about me?" [Sarah taps her bare foot on the stage.]

VICTORIA: "Well, let's all help her."

[Victoria, Regis, Drew and Angie all go to Tracy's vat abd about 30 seconds later, Regis finds the shoe and gives it to Tracy to give to Sarah Jessica.]

VICTORIA: "Okay Angie, as the winner you get 1000 pounds but you also get to receive a pair of these Two Lips 'Terin' slides in the color of your choice."

ANGIE: "Thanks!"

REGIS: "Actually Angie, there's a twist I need to run by you. You can leave right now with your 1000 pounds and you pair of Two Lips slides. Or you can trade in your Two Lips slides and the shoes you came in here with for the chance to win 6 pairs of Two Lips slides - one pair in each of the six colors in which they are available."

ANGIE: "What will I have to do?"

REGIS: "You're a smart young lady! There is a catch. You will have 90 seconds to go through the two vats and pull out a matching pair of shoes - size and color, put them on and cross the line where Sarah Jessica and Drew were standing before. If you fail, you will not only have to leave the shoes you came here with and not get the one pair of slides you've already won. If you only find one shoe of the pair that fits you you can leave with the one shoe if you want."

ANGIE: "I think I will just go with what I have."

VICTORIA: "Alright Angie, we appreciate you playing with us today on The Reality Shoe."

[Angie replaces her shoes on her feet and returns to her seat.]

VICTORIA: "Tracy, We'll make the same deal with you. We will also award you with one pair of Two Lips slides right now or you can refuse them and turn in the shoes you came in with for a chance to win 6 pairs of shoes."

TRACY: "I believe I am going to take a chance. My shoes I wore today are old and not very expensive anyway."

{The stage assistants help get Tracy in position. Drew and Sarah Jessica move off to the side to watch.]

REGIS: "If you're ready, then let's get started. On the mark, get set, GO!

[Tracy goes over to the first vat and immediately seems overwhelmed. She beging pouring through shoes looking for any size 6 UK or 6.5 UK. Nearly 25 seconds pass before she finally finds an orange size 6 right. Ten more seconds pass as Tracy franticall sends shoes and packing peanuts flying everywhere before finding a pink 6.5 left. Tracy puts on both shoes so as not to lose them, then continues to pour through the first vat. Tracy continues to look for a right 6.5 pink and a left 6 orange. At the 45 second mark she finds a right 6 red and puts it aside.]

VICTORIA: "Maybe you need to try the other vat, Tracy"

[At the 55 second mark Tracy stumbles over to the other vat. Her orange slide comes off and she hurriedly puts it back on before continuing to the vat.]

REGIS: "Thirty seconds left, Tracy."

[Tracy is getting just about panicked now. She finds another right 6.5 pink and throws it aside. More searching and more searching then Regis begins the final ten seconds. "Ten...nine...eight..." With five seconds left, Tracy digs down one more time and finds a right size 6 fuschia slide. Tracy at first thought it was pink 6.5 . "Four...three" She stumbled across the white line and kicked off the orange 6. As Regis announced time's up, Tracy, leaned down to see that she had a pink shoe and a fuschia one.] VICTORIA: "Regis check out what Tracy ended up with, please. Tracy, why don't you take off your shoes and show then to Regis?"

[Tracy did just that and showed her shoes to Regis.]

REGIS: "Okay, it appears that you have a pink shoe and a fuschia shoe. There a slight color difference. Uh Oh, the fuschia one is a 6 and the pink one is a 6.5. You've failed the task on both accounts."

TRACY: "So what does this mean?"

REGIS: "You can keep one or the other but not both shoes."

TRACY: "So I have to leave here with only one shoe?"

REGIS: "That was the deal. You have 250 pounds to buy a replacement if you want. Thank you for participating in our game on the Reality Shoe."

[Tracy takes off the pink slide and throws it into one of the vats and returns to her seat with one fuschia slide.]

VICTORIA: "Thank You Regis, Sarah Jessica and Drew. That was a fun game" [All except Victoria exit Stage left.] "We'll be back after this commercial break to meet our cast of players."

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

VICTORIA: "Welcome back to The Reality Shoe. It is now time to meet the members of our two teams."

[While each person is introduced, Victoria provides voice-over narration and the TV audience sees first a still shot of the team member then a series of clips from their participation on the show. The studio audience only sees the still shot on the video screen.]

VICTORIA: "We'll start with Team Manolo.
Karen is the team captain, she is a well-known webmaster for a site called Karen's Cinderella Page and is from the UK.
Maria is an accountant from Chicago, Illinois.
Missy is a newscaster from Nashville, Tennessee and was a finalist on a recent episode of ABC Television's "The Bachelor."
Teri is a Paralegal from Boston, Massachusetts.
Caroline runs a web-based business out of her home in Pennsylvania.
Each team also contains three men who are not going to be unitied with the ladies until the third episode.
Jay is a Law Student from Columbia, South Carolina.
Droppedit is a webmaster of a site featuring One Shoe scenes in the Media and is from Europe.
Mikeey is a webmaster of a site featuring One Shoe Stories and is from the UK.
We'll return after this commercial break to meet Team Choo."

[COMMERICAL BREAK]

VICTORIA: "Okay, back to introducing our teams. We just met the members of Team Manolo and now we'll meet the members of Team Choo.
Susan is a webmaster from the UK and will serve as team captain.
Trisha is a database security specialist and former part-time shoe model from South Carolina and is Jay's fiancee. She does not know he is in the game also.
Jennifer is a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative from Denver, Colorado.
Nikki is a college Student from the UK and is Mikeey's girlfriend. She too does not know he is also in the game.
Shelley is an Administrative Assistant from the UK.
Again, each team also contains three men who are not going to be unitied with the ladies until the third episode.
Nylonman, who will go by NM, is a webmaster for a Yahoo Group called 'Only One Shoe' and is from the Northeastern United States.
Snowman is a Webmaster for a One Shoe Story site and is from the Chicago area.
Nigel C is a contractor and a webmaster for a one shoe web site and is from the UK.

Before we close out this episode, there are a few other credits to make in advance.
Nigel P, who is from Russia, and Bert from Germany are guest videographers.
Nigel P will work with Team Manolo and Bert will work with Team Choo.
They will use the small and compact Canon Optura 400 for a secret competition in a future episode.
