Taras Story
Hi Everyone, I thought I would share Taras Story with you all. Tara Was my 4th pregnancy unfortunately all the previous ones ended in miscarriage. Tara was conceived with the help of Metformin and Follicle Stimulation Hormone Treatment. When I found out I was pg I made the decision to stay on metformin as all the info i have read says that it reduces the chance of miscarriage and with all my other babies i stopped taking it so with tara i stayed on it till i was 20 weeks. The pregnancy seemed to go fine but each fortnight when i saw my obgyn he kept saying that tara was only going to be a little baby. Little did any of us know how little she actually was. When I was 38 weeks i went into labour, After many hours I was 3 mins apart and only 1cm dilated. Luckily my doctor decided to do an emergency ceasar as due to the fact that my placenta had died and the umbilical cord was nearly non existant Tara would not have lived another 24 hours. She was Born on the 31st March at 11.20pm weight 2lb 12 oz. She was 38 cm long and her head circ was 28cm. It was such a scary time for us all. Luckily all her organs were formed so her only problem was that she had no body fat and could not hold her own temperature. She only spent the first night in a humidicrib because the hospital had a kanmed bed on loan and wanted to try it out. It is a gel bed that plugs into the electricity and keeps the babys temp stable. It was fantastic, she looked like all the other babies in cots. |
