I really didn't start singing on a serious basis until I was out of High School. I sung in the school chorus during my elementary school years, but once I was into Middle School and High School, I was much more sports oriented. I was on the girls' basketball and softball teams, as well as the track and gymnastics teams.

Things changed for me in my Junior year of High School. I was involved in a serious automobile accident which placed me in a coma and while in the coma, the doctors removed a blood clot from my brain. After coming out of the coma, the doctors discovered that I had broken my neck and they placed me in a "halo" brace for three months. The doctors told me that I would not be able to participate in any type of contact sports such as basketball. They also advised me to never snow ski, water ski, ice skate, roller skate or dive.

Well, this news changed life as I had known it. So, I later turned my interests back to singing. Out of High School, I joined the church choir and from that I was asked to perform solos, and then from there, I was asked to perform in weddings.

I did end up going to college for an education instead of my original plan to play sports. While in college, I did not perform very much. I sang in a few clubs and did a few weddings. After graduating with honors earning a degree in dental hygiene from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry, I had a chance to sing the National Anthem for the Richmond Rage, Richmond's former women's professional basketball team and for the Richmond Braves, the farm team to the Atlanta Braves.

Later, I participated in a talent contest, hosted by radio DJ John Trimble, and won! I was asked to become a regular cast member on a Grand 'Ole Opry style show. From there, it was as though a fire was lit underneath me. I was having so much fun with this singing thing, that I really wanted to pursue it to the best of my ability. I started writing songs and with the help of most of the other band members from this show, I was able to record and put out my own CD's and cassettes with the original songs. As a cast member of this show, I have had the opportunity to open for John Conley, Julie Johnson, Jim & Jesse with The Virginia Boys, Stonewall Jackson, David Frizzel and to open and perform with James King and his bluegrass band.

I also joined the Floating Folk Festival, and I have done several spots for their different gigs. I have been interviewed on different radio stations. One radio show, called "The Virginia Sound", held a contest in which listeners voted for the guests who had been on the show for categories similar to the CMA's. They held an awards show called the VCMA's, and I won the titles of "Country Artist of the Year", "Female Vocalist of the Year", "Song of the Year" with my song "The Road Less Traveled", "Marketeer of the Year", and "Entertainer of the Year". I want to thank all the listeners who voted for me. It meant a lot. It is a great feeling to hear your songs played on the radio!

Outside of singing, I have been cast as a dancer/extra in the Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie "Rose White", an extra in the movie "True Colors",in the made for TV movie "A Woman Named Jackie" and also for the TV Drama Series "Commander In Chief". I have done some runway and promotional modeling for Fendi, Adidas, Goody Goody Teddy Bears, Chiquita and Winston Cup/Nascar.

I have opened for David Ball and Tracy Byrd and have also performed at the world famous Tootsie's in Nashville, Tennessee. I have cut back on my performaning schedule as I am focusing on raising my little girl and continuing my education in the field of gerontology.

Like all aspiring artists, I am looking for that break that will make the difference, but even if it never happens, I thank God for the experience. I can honestly say I have had a lot of fun, and I have met a lot of great people and made great new friends. I will keep performing and writing because, like so many people say they can see, I Love It!
