Ryan Park

North Kingstown, RI
Difficulty - Easy, a beautiful 1+ mile walk crossing Belleville Pond in one of the town parks. The pond is very shallow and has water lilies growing on it in the summer. It has a special manmade treat in the center that you will visit in your pursuit of the letterbox.

Directions: Take Rt 4 to Oak Hill Rd. From the north Oak Hill will be a left turn at the first stop light. From the south it will be a right turn at the second light. Take the 2nd entrance to Ryan Park on your left. If you hit Rt 1 you have gone too far. When the road forks go left and follow the directions to the boat launch and park.

From the center of the parking lot find the trail at 350o. Go on the trail in a northerly course. You will forge your way on a path through "jungle-like" bushes on your way to a feature reminiscent of Monet at Giverny. Enjoy the view of the pond from this center "high point."

Continue on to the 1st intersection. Take the trail at 140o. On top of the first rise find a large, bald, lichen covered rock six paces to the right of the trail. From the rock take 15 paces at 240o to find the box. Continue on the trail. At the intersection with the lake and the stairs straight ahead turn left. After that follow the edge of the pond, staying to the right.

Note:
Gift to Emily is also located at this park

NOTE:  Please re-cover well.  This box may have to be relocated slightly or recovered, as decay progresses.
