Wisdom's Way of Learning

This subject is so important to me and dear to my heart that I wanted to be sure to get something about it up on the site as soon as possible. I am listing all the other sites I am aware of that may help you in this endeavor until I can add content and my own experiences applying these principles...or at least attempting to! I pray you are blessed by the information you will find here and that it will lead you to not only a more joyous experience with homeschooling but, and more importantly, a closer relationship with the Master Teacher!

...and unsolicited comments from Trish
...hey! It's MY page!

Barb & Dave Shelton's Homeschool Oasis
Scroll down a bit and look for the area called "Season of Re-Education & Renewing of the Mind. After reading the 5 short articles Barb has here, visit her "Season of Re-Education & Renewing of the Mind" Main Page. Don't be overwhelmed by the amount of material provided. Remember...how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! I had Barb's site marked as my homepage and would leave whichever page I was "chewing on" up on screen as I went about my daily routine. I would read a bit and then contemplate it and wait for the Lord to reveal His wisdom, plan and desire to me. (I learned to do this for my Bible reading when my children were much younger and we were just beginning our homeschooling journey! I would leave my Bible out where I could see it, read a verse or two while holding my wee one and then ponder and pray over it until it was "ingested". Then I'd go back for another "bite".) Barb has the most content of Marilyn Howshall's message on her site as MH does not have a site of her own. But it is only a small portion of MH's entire Wisdom's Way of Learning (WWOL) and Lifestyle of Learning (LOL). Barb provides this information as part of her "Qualification Course" for Washington state homeschoolers and this is a portion of that course. It is not necessary to officially participate in the course in order to follow it. I KNOW you will be blessed by Barb's site and may want to consider joining her e-mail list. I have been...both while living in WA and maybe even more so here in CO. It helps me so much to have like-minded people to support me in this different way of thinking about homeschooling.

Brightpath offers examples of how they have applied LOL and books that work well with this learning style.

Tamara Eaton's article explains how she's using LOL for her 6 children.

What's 4-H got to do with a LOL? Everything! Four-H Web gives you a state listing of groups for all 50 states. Search for a group in your area. I don't have our girls in 4-H YET! but two of my "sisters" are active in groups in WA. They LOVE it!

Homeschool-Changing the World has information on WWOL/LOL but I'm not sure how up to date this site is. Some of the links are outdated but the content is worth a look-see.

Ignite the Fire's Terri Camp wrote a WHOLE book on her LOL and gives excerpts here. Check out her page on Notebooks...a popular topic and essential element of LOL.

Recently remodeled, at Kimberly's Korner she shares how "In our home, all academics take a back seat to child training and discipleship." Visit her Chart Showing the Lifestyle of Learning Books at a Glance. A GREAT helper!

This is a sweet article from a young lady who knows first hand about A Lifestyle of Learning

A look at a LOL Biology Experiment

Now I am NOT a "classic" CM schooler but I do think many of her ideas lend themselves to WWOL/LOL. You may notice an overlapping of WWOL and CM...and this is terrific! However, for ME! I stay focused on Scripture and WWOL simply because I can't do everything and when I try...I lose direction. I do like CM's ideas on nature walks and taking time to slow down at teatime! This page covers Nature Learning.

Cindy Rushton says: "Whether you would like to know more about Marriage, Homeschooling, or Homemaking...we pray that you will be inspired to walk in Christ! Grab a cup of tea...sit down for a bit...we will share a bit of our home with you!" WOW!...with an intro like that how could I NOT include her? Cindy provides articles from her various books and newsletter "Time for Tea". I know it may seem like this should be on my tea page but it really is about homeschooling!

Dawna must be a brilliant woman...at her Gentle Hearth she covers utilizing Afternoon Tea in your homeschooling day. Also: menus, menus and more menus! Plus Scrapbooking! Ah...a kindred spirit! Again it's really about homeschool. Something 'bout tea and homeschooling ~ I love it!

Now here is a list you may want to consider joining...

WWOL-List
This list was originally Sherri's but is now run by Kym. She does a fantastic job! It is my absolute favorite. There are others available but this suits my needs perfectly plus I love the fellowship and wisdom that is shared.
note from trish: lyris lists are run by individuals that love the Lord and many times do this service at their own expense.
Love offerings are greatly appreciated!
