Tristan! Yeah, the name is for real and I know - its a boy's name... My mum is a real fan of opera and Wagner. I actually REALLY love my name. Thanks mom!!!
One day at FCC, I heared from a young boy that I was the most interesting he saw at faire when I asked him. This was after sharing silly stories and tidbits he could really take home-for example "did you know that since you own more that one pair of shoes - WHOA eight - that probably makes you as rich as the queen". I shouldn't hear I am the most interesting thing at faire, it appalled me. I realized then that I miss the days when the most important person at faire was not you, not your fellow guildmember or what your guildmaster wants the camp to look like focusing more on this than the mundane - the poor persons that bought in to having an "out of time" experience and visit a world they could never know. I want this for them again. Perhaps in a new group we can push for this type of faire that is seeming to dwindle and disappear.
Meanwhile, my character will has and always wil be the luckless camp follower or unmarried fallen woman, typically caring for the soldiers of war... Sound exciting?? Not really, you mended, you cooked, you dug the latrine ditches, you kept the beds warm at night in the hopes of someday becoming betrothed and a "proper woman"... You would never recognize me under the guise of bruises, dirt and grime-TRUST ME!!! And I prefer playing Scottish, it's in the blood...
Other hobbies include singing, many musical instruments, photography, gaming, reading-A LOT, writing, arts & crafts and more things that I cannot even think of right now... Video games... Artistic erotica... You know, the usual. Har har...
My new guild... Not sure if I will get stuck being the Guildmistress, I worry there may be bad blood out there for speaking my mind about what I think about the guilds in general and where faire has been and where its heading. But as in all things, people should be entitled to their own opinions, particularly when it comes to the quality of life they are experiencing from their own HOBBIES... why do something that makes you miserable? Enough said on that, I think I've covered what I feel faire should be like...
