TikiNui: Our lone female, Missy rules the house with an iron paw.  Abandoned by a neighbor who moved away, TikiNui adopted me in 1997.  She was only about 10 months old at the time.  She's blossomed into an absolutely beautiful cat; being of Norwegian Forest Cat stock, her coat and ruff are exquisite. Her personality is amazing, as is her vocabulary! Her silent meow will bring the strongest soul to their knees. She really keeps the male cats in line, too. And yes, those are "thumbs" on her hands; TikiNui is polydactyl, and she can actually use her thumbs to pick up objects like pencils,  and cat treats.
Kona: my partner Pat's cat. Adopted as a kitten in June 2000, he's the only cat here who wasn't abandoned/stray or feral.  What a wonderful cat, Kona is!  What a brat, too!  He's just a delightful bundle of energy, sass, and affection!  Kona was born with a genetic tendency for FLUTD, and in fact has had to have a urethrostomy to prevent chronic urinary blockages.  You'd never know he had these problems....he's so full of energy!  Kona is an absolute sweetheart...spending his evenings on one of our laps, kneading and purring.
Ilipuakea: One afternooon in summer 2001, Pat and I went out for the afternoon. When we returned home, a beautiful white cat was waiting in the driveway. He was hungry, but clean and otherwise in good shape. We canvassed the district, put ads in the local newspapers, but no one seemed to be missing him.  It appears he was just dumped out here in the country, as happens all too often. Grrrr...  Ili has most gorgeous blue eyes, and like most rescued cats, is exceptionally affectionate.  In case you're wondering, "Ilipuakea" is Hawai'ian...it translates roughly to "of white hair" in English.
Montana: A friend bought a home up in town, and it came with a stray cat. A stray cat with a large tumor in it's right ear.  As much as he loves cats, our friend couldn't afford the time or money to care for this cat properly, so guess who gets the call. Me.  After getting this cat home, next stop was the vet to examine the tumor. It looked NASTY. Big and red and bleeding...it did not look promising.  The Plan was to operate first, and if the tumor was malignant, I'd keep him at home until.......  Or, if it was benign, I was going to adopt him out.  Like I needed ANOTHER cat, right?  The surgery was successful, and the biopsy results came back in a week or so. Benign!  But by then, I was so head-over-heels in love with him (big surprise), I couldn't adopt him out.  Great decision...he's such a big soppy affectionate cat!
