1998-1999 - A disastrous year or as Massimo Moratti put it "Annus Horribilis". It is indeed a fitting name for last season. A year which saw Inter struggling in a multitude of problems culminating in the futile swapping of 4 different coaches, the elimination in the quarterfinals of the Champions league and elimination in the semi finals of Coppa Italia.
1999-2000 - 4th place in Italian Championship.
2000-2001 - Two years ago, Massimo Moratti defined the year just ended as "Annus Horribilis" or Horrible Year. It is almost a fitting name also for last season. A year which Inter started off very badly with the defeat against Reggina in the first day of the Italian League followed by the sudden departure of Marcello Lippi. The team later plodded on through the season with Marco Tardelli at a modest mid-table performance level.
2001-2002 - Inter is very close to winning its scudetto number 14. Leaders until the last match, one point ahead of Juventus, they lose against Lazio. Scudetto goes to Juventus, and second place to Roma. As in 1967, the last match of the championship is fatal to nerazzurri.
