And now, brakes!

Rear
brake arm has to be removed from its square shank on pedal shaft so that cylinder push-rod can thread into it.  Then mount cylinder (no double-entendre intended) using one of its bolts.  Then try and get brake arm with spring in situ to go back onto the square shank of the shaft.  I tried for about 45mins of lying on my back with my head in the rear wheel-well whilst groveling in the filth that is my workshop floor, using a technique of holding the brake pedal still while rotating the brake arm about to make it line up correctly against the force of its return spring.

Then I gave up, and instead employed a technique to sit up beside the bike, reach in to hold brake arm stock-still by pressing it with my fingers against its square shank, whilst rotating the shaft by operating the brake pedal up and down with my other hand.
Voila! The whole operation took in total about 10 seconds!  Like I warned you at the start, this is the dumb-ass approach to fettling one’s T140.

Got everything buttoned up again and ready for the road.  But unfortunately the weather turned bad (torrential tropical rain, temperature plummeted to 23 degrees Celsius) and things got a bit busy at work.  So no test ride yet.

Did notice a rapidly widening lake of oil under this mutha, however.  A few drops can be seen dangling from the stud nuts of the sexy new oil filter
bottom plate.  Damn!

NB There is a Post-script to this whole oil filter saga, which you can read
here.
