Table Mountain Group Camp Bishop, California - 8,700' Elevation

For a new event, those that attended had a wonderful weekend.  We anticipated a low turnout due to the drive-time (about 6 hours).  Three dad's and six boys did make the drip.  The campsite was on the South Fork of the Bishop river, and afforded hours of fishing time for the boys and dads.  The river had plenty of trout and was well stocked.  Getting them to hook up was the challenge!

Half the group took a hike from a 9,000' trailhead and climbed up to two lakes at the 10,500' elevation level.  There was still plenty of snow surrounding the lakes, and hooking up trout in the lake was quite a treat. It also was a great workout!  The boys went into the sleeping bags at 7PM, while the dad's sure didn't hesitate to wait much longer. Looking at my topo map, there are over 40 lakes within a few miles of this campsite.

The weather was very nice, except for quite a wind Saturday night.  It kept everyone awake until 1AM, and drove one group into their truck.  Cool into the 30's during the night, 60's during the day.

I personally would do this camp again.  Looking forward to next year!
