The Blue Ridge Mountains Scout
Reservation includes Camp Powhatan, Camp
Ottari, and 16,000 acres of
rugged beauty high in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is the site of the council's Boy
Scout summer camps, including New River Adventure, High Knoll Trail,
Fish Camp, Voyageur Trek, Mountain Man Outpost, Brownsea Island
Adventure, Cub Scout Adventure Camp, and traditional merit badge camps.
Claytor Lake Aquatics Base and SCUBA camps operate on leased property
at nearby Claytor
Lake. A new aquatics base is under
construction and scheduled to be open soon.
For
over 50 years, the Blue Ridge Mountains Scout Reservation has been a
leader among Scout camps, pioneering new and exciting programs, and
providing thousands of Scouts and Scouters a positive camping
experience. Thanks to its
superior staff and unique ability to provide a quality program for
every Scout within a unit, troops from across the nation have made the
Blue Ridge Mountains Scout Reservation one of the largest camping
programs in the country.
The
Blue Ridge Mountains Council sponsors high adventure summer camp opportunities
for advanced Boy Scouts and Venture Scouts looking for a
challenge. These programs take
place at Claytor Lake Aquatics base, Camp
Powhatan, and Camp Ottari. Unlike regular summer camp sessions,
high adventure programs are not merit badge driven. Though some requirements of merit
badges may be earned at these programs, earning merit badges is not the
main focus. Click the links to
