CAMPING CHECKLIST
Personal Gear
This list is also found on pages 224 - 227 in the Boy Scout Handbook and in the Troop 14 Parents Guide. All clothing and gear should be appropriate for the season.


- Clothing: shirt, pants, socks, underwear...a change for each day 
- Long underwear
- Coat or jacket
- Class "A" Scout uniform
- Extra shoes or boots
- Sweatshirt and sweatpants
- Poncho or rain gear
- Gloves
- Insect repellent (non-aerosol)
- Mess kit (plate, bowl, knife, fork, spoon, cup)
- Pocket knife (
after earning Totin' Chip Award)
- Sunscreen, lip balm
- Itch eraser or cream
- Flashlight with working batteries (plus spare batteries)
- Sleeping bag (rated to 20 degrees or less) and pillow
- Closed cell foam ground pad or "Thermarest" type air mattress
- Towel and wash cloth
- Toiletries: soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, deodorant, etc.
- Special medicines and first aid supplies
- Sunglasses
- Camera
- Water bottle
- Matches and firestarter (
after earning Fireman Chit Award)
- Scout Handbook
- Notebook, pen, pencil
- Swimsuit
- Scout Spirit

Scouts should leave the following at home:
- Electronic devices: video games, video/audio players, cell phones
- Sheath knives
- Pocket knives with blades longer than 3 inches
- Snacks stored in tents
