So you are looking for the general information on Troop 5, right? Well you've come to the right place! The Troop actively has meetings and outings from mid-September through early June. Troop 5 actively meets on Tuesday nights at 7:15pm-8:45pm during the school year. If you want to come feel free to visit us one night, at the time above. The meetings are held at First Presby Church, which is located on Broad Street, in Charleston, West Virginia. You will not need a uniform for your first visit, so please don't bring/wear one. This is a Boy Scouts of America troop, so this is boys only. We do encourage a parent or guardian to come along for the first few meetings, and get to know everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!!

Yes we do particpate in very fun and enjoyable outings, during the Scouting year. Such include: backpacking at Cranberry Glades in December, the annual ski trip to Timberline Four Seasons Resort in March, the first camping trip of the season to Kanawha State Forest where the new scouts learn many helpful skills, the biking trip at Watoga State Park along the Greenbrier River Trail, the annual River Trip, the outing to the Air Guard in Charleston to see a C-130 and some awesome fire trucks, and much much more! At Troop 5 we let the kids do more than half of the planning, and brainstorming. But if it wasn't for the great parents we meet along the way we would never have been able to do what we have for the past 86 years! Thanks to all those great parents who have put thier sweat, muscle, and blood into this Troop. We are one of the oldest and will continue for many generations more! So we encourage you to let your son participate in every outing, so that he gets the true expericence!

There are requirements to complete before you can join. First, you must be 11 years of age, or have completed grade 5 in order to join. Second, you must be a boy. Third, you must be under the age of 18 years old. There are other requirements to be completed, but these are the hardest. We do encourage you to come and visit. Troop 5 looks forward to seeing you on the team! So if you pass the following age requirements listed above, both in age and gender, you are in. The rest is elementary my dear Watson.
