Turn off the music


The Troop has done a lot since September 1999

In September (24th-26th) several Scouts supported Marlboro's Cub Scout Pack 72's Fall Family Campout. The Scouts helped man the fingerprinting station while working on the Fingerprinting Merit Badge and helped run the Bicycle Rodeo.

In October we attended the Algonquin District Fall Camporee (1st-3rd) and conducted our Fall Court of Honor (5th). We awarded 51 merit badges that the Scouts earned in Camp Tri-Mount this Summer and advanced three Scouts. Paul F. and Gary I. earned the Life rank and Ryan S. earned the Star rank. We hiked Breakneck Ridge (23rd) in Putnam County and enjoyed the increadible views of the Hudson River and Storm King Mountain.

In November we held a Troop swim (5th) at the Marlboro High School. Eight scouts earned their Lifesaving Merit Badge and one earned his Swimming Merit Badge. We had a weekend campout at West Point's Round Pond (13th-14th) where the Scouts worked on the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge, Paul Bunyan award and completed a 5 km orienteering Course. We participated in the Scouting For Food program (20th) and collected 446 food items and delivered them to the First Presbyterian Church's food pantry.

In December one scout participated in the Council Bowl-a-Thon (4th). We conducted our Winter Court of Court of Honor (21st). Rich B. recieved the Star Rank and Joe L. and Bobby M. recieved the First Class Rank.

In January we attended the the Rip Van Winkle Council's Klondike Derby (29th). Paul F. and Rich B. competed in the Alaskathon. Paul and Rich had to traverse a course on snow shoes. Their net completion time was modified based on their performance on the rifle range, archery course and completion of an ariel obstacle (The Giant's Ladder). We spent the night at Camp Tri-Mount and went to Hunter Mountain (30th) for a day of skiing and snowtubing.

In February (19th) six Webelos scouts joined the Troop after receiving the Arrow of Light at Pack 72's Blue and Gold Dinner. Welcome to Nick B., Billy B., Sean K., Jack M., Daniel S. and Dominick T.

In March (18th), the Troop developed and manned the "Who Wants to ReKindle the Spirit" booth at the Rip Van Winkle Council's annual Scout Show. The booth played on the theme of ABC's Who Want's To Be a Millionare by having scouts answer trivia questions. March 21st was Super Tuesday as the Troop conducted elections for SPL, ASPL, PLs and membership in the Order of the Arrow.

Paul F. was elected Troop Senior Patrol Leader and
Gary I. was elected Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.
Ryan S. was elected Patrol Leader for the Wolverine Patrol and
Bobby M. was appointed Assistant Patrol Leader.
Joe L. was elected Patrol Leader for the Timberwolf Patrol and
Matt J. was appointed as Assistant Patrol Leader.

The new junior leaders were installed at the Troop's Spring Court of Honor (28th). Matt J. was presented the Star rank and Daniel S., Jack M., Dominick T. and Nick B. were presented the Scout rank

In April (1st) the Troop participated in the Algonquin District's First Aid Meet at the Ulster County Community College. The Troop fielded a team in both the Junior and Senior Division. The Junior Divison team won 1st Place. Team members were Joe L., David G., Jimmy T., Billy B., Nick B. and Dominick T. The Senior Division team won 2nd Place. Team members were Ryan S., Bobby M., Nick S., and Peter C..
