Troop 759
October 17, 2006
Attendees: Mary Bullinger, Pat McDermott, John Dittman, Brian Smith, Carol Bateman, and Dale Walker, Robin Nussbaum, John Dittman.
Previous Minutes: Last month’s minutes of were approved with corrections.
Committee Chair’s Report: Nothing to report. – Committee agreed to combine November and December meetings.
Treasurer’s Report: Submitted in writing. Troop currently has sufficient funding.
Scout Master’s Report: Flags and Cheers will be done during patrol time. Announcement to reiterate this during the troop meeting will be made.
Pack 495 as well as some other packs are looking for scout volunteers to help man “mini” WOR. Announcement will be made during troop meeting seeking volunteers. Many of the scouts as well as the adults have prior commitments.
The November backpacking trip will be local and “lighter” duty to give 1st year scouts the opportunity to participate.
The greenbar decided to cancel the October 31 troop meeting since it is Halloween.
Advancement Report: Rechartering materials have been obtained by Carol. Fees are $50 per scout and $11 for adults. Rechartering fees due by 11/28/06
There is not Quality Unit Award unit this year. BAC is focusing on Centennial Award recognition of 100 years of scouting in 2010. Information will be made available through the Area Scouter.
BAC is developing a “Blue Crab” Unit award. Carol has the details.
Council/District rechartering fees will remain the same this year Boys Life $12, Registration $10 and Insurance $.80.
Quartermaster’s Report: Dennis reported that he has put on order 2
heaters. They are on back order from Pro Bass. Propane tanks will be refilled
soon.
Howard recommended that we buy heaters for the winter camping trip. It was also noted that a couple of the propane cylinders needed to be replaced.
Activities Report:
· Field Sports Weekend – 5 scouts & 2 adults signed up
· Weebelos-O-Ree – WOR has been cancelled do to water issues at Broadcreek. More localized efforts are underway to have a mini-WOR.
· We need to decide if we are going camping or backpacking in November.
Roundtable Minutes: Minutes from the October 9, 2006 roundtable were submitted in writing.
Webmaster’s Report: Philmont pictures are up and running on the web page.
Venture Crew: Dale and Todd presented additional information to committee. All agreed that it sounded like a good way to keep older scouts engaged in scouting. Troop 759 and the Venture crew will stay closely tied.
