Previous Minutes: Last month’s minutes were approved as written.
Committee Chair’s Report: Nothing to report.
Treasurer’s Report: Submitted in writing. The committee voted on the following
fees for registration: $50 for recharter, $55 for new scout (currently
registered in BSA), $75 for new scouts (not registered in BSA) and $11 for
adults. These figures are based on the assumption that BSA charges are the
same as last year. Troop fees will change in accordance with any changes from
national fees, if applicable. The committee voted not to pursue the sale of
vitamins for a troop fundraiser. Update; fees have not changed
Scout Credits: Accounts are up to date and were passed out two weeks ago.
Scout Master’s Report: Brian is pleased with the current group of scout leaders. OA program needs to be built back up in the troop. The troop needs to send out an email announcing committee elections on December 3 with a description of positions.
Greenbar Report: It was mentioned that the quartermaster needs to be timely with stocking the chuck boxes. Scouts asked if we were sponsoring a family for the holidays this year. The committee voted to continue with this practice. Janet will contact last year’s recipient to see if they are still in need. She will follow-up with the church if necessary to find another recipient.
Advancement Chairperson Report: Nothing to report.
Merit Badge Counselors Report: Nothing to report.
Quartermaster’s Report: Langston is new Scout Quartermaster. He has been tasked to go through the chuck boxes and facilitate the purchase of the following items that were approved by committee at Sept 17, 2007 meeting: regulator hose for one of the stoves, restock the troop first aid kit ($100), and two bow saws ($40).
Activities Coordinator Report: Submitted in writing. Priority issues include: 1) Need to finalize plans for WOR. The Manor has been condemned, so we will need to tent. Pat is POC 2) Arrangements have been made to ski at Timberline on January 18-20, 2008. Dennis F. is POC. Cost is $149 and $199 for 2 and 3 night packages respectively. Half of the fee is due by October 30. Anyone not affiliated with the troop needs to pay the full amount by October 30, 3) We need to finalize Patuxent hike on November 10 or see alternative. Possible alternatives include indoor archery 4) Need to schedule a trip to the “board of education,” “county council,” etc., 5) Howard asked for help arranging cabin winter camping. Brian will POC the event, 6) Pat is looking into the family laser tag night in November. 7) Esperanza will call to see if we can obtain a basketball court for a troop challenge.
Roundtable Minutes: Submitted in writing.
Webmaster’s Report: Crew 759 is inviting the troop to join them in a back packing trip to Dolly Sods on November 16-18. The Crew is holding a fundraiser at Chick-fil-A at Columbia Mall on October 25 from 6-8 pm; a chicken nugget contest will be held during the event. Still working on the archive section of the web page and assembling a list of food items that are appropriate for back packing. Added committee documents and beach photographs. Dale is in communication with Keystone Country Store for the purchase of archer equipment for the troop.
Miscellaneous: Committee elections will be held at the next committee meeting.
Next committee meeting is scheduled for December 3. 2007 at 7:00 at Emory Church in Ellicott City
