Chapter 16:                                                        {Melon} ~~Back at the Police station~~    "Here, here!" Melly said running into the police station, "I have the money!" "Let me see that." The officer at the desk said as he counted it, "Yes, $375, Thank-you." "Your welcome, now go get my boyfriend out of that jail cell." Melly smiled at the officer. "Nope." He smiled back. "My friends will be here any minute with the tickets, they are good for it! Please?" Melissa asked again. "I would love to bring him out here, but it's against policy." He told her, "But you could go back there with him." He said grabbing his keys. "Oh, yes, please."Melly said as she followed him down the dark and dirty hallway. "There he is. I'll come back when your friends get here." The officer said as he opened Nick's cell, let Melly in, and closed it up. Melly just nodded and turn to Nick. "Hey, why did you come back here?" Nick asked as he placed an arm around her. "I didn't want you to be alone." Melly said, "And it's prolly one of the only times we can talk without Val and Brian." "Your prolly right. So, you’re staying here, right?" Nick quickly asked the million dollar question. "Yes. I think so." Melly said. "You think so?" Nick lifted her face up. "I dunno, Nick." Melly said standing up, "I wanna be with you, but..." "Then be with me." Nick whispered into her ear. "What about the press? What are they gonna say when they hear you were arrested because of me?" Melly asked him, "I don't thinkI can take anymore public bashing." "I'm gonna talk to the press. Tell them everything." Nick stared in her eyes, "I never want you to hurt again. I love you and need you with me." "Thank-you...I love you too." Melly said as she kissed him. "Move in with me?!" Nick just blurted out. "What?" Melly asked again. "I want you to move in my house with me." Nick repeated, "I want you with me every hour of every day. Whatcha say?" "Uhmm, Yes, of course. I'll move in with you." Melly smiled. "Woohoo!" Nick yelled as he scooped Melly up and spun her in the air before placing back down and kissing her like there was no tomorrow. Just then the guard came to the cell. "I hate to break this love fest up...but you’re free to go." He said opening the cell, "Your friends are in the lobby waiting." "Great! Let's go." Nick said picking Melly up and carrying her like a baby. "Nick, put me down!" Melly squealed as the reached the lobby. "So, I take it your staying?" Brian asked Melly. "You bet your country butt, she is!" Nick said happily. Valerie and Brian just laughed. "We're glad. But can we get out of this place?" Valley asked. "Sure. Melly and I have to go back to OUR house." Nick said pronunciating "our" loudly. "Our house?" Valerie questioned as they left the station and went to Brian's car. "Yeah, Melly is moving in with me." Nick smiled. "Oh, when did this happen?" Brian asked as he began to drive. "Like 10 minutes ago." Melly said. "What about me?!" Valley cried out, "You're gonna leave me at the apartment...alone?" "Oh, Val, I didn't even think of you. I'm sorry...maybe I shouldn't move in then." Melly said as Valley noticed Nick's eyes bug out. She knew he wanted her there. "No,No...go move in. I'll be fine." Valley smiled  over at Nick. "Of course you'll be fine...you'll be with me." Brian laughed, "That's it!" "What's it?" Valley asked her man. "You move in with me! You can just get rid of the apartment! What do you say?" "Oh, wow, uhmm, yeah sure." Valley finally spit out.  "This is great. Now you won't be alone." Melly smiled. "We better get you two home to start packing." Brian smiled widely.   ~~At the girl's apartment~~    "Oh no, how did they find out where I lived?" Melly sighed as she buried her face in Nick's chest. "I dunno, but it's gonna end here. C'mon." He said getting out of the car and taking her hand. "Nick, what are you gonna do?" Melly asked nervously. "You'll see." He said as they approached the reporters. "Nick! Melissa! Can we get a few words with you?" A reporter yelled to them. "Actually, I'd like to say something." Nick said as the reporters stood stunned. "Okay, Mr. Carter, we're all ready to hear what you have to say." the reporter said pointing a microphone in his face. "I would like everyone, fans & media,to please leave my girlfriend alone. She had nothing, I repeat, nothing to do with my accident. That was mine and the other driver's fault...not Melissa's. Some of you have been down right cruel to her and it's totally uncalled for." Nick stopped to pull Melly in his arms, "I love this girl so much. And if you all love and respect me, you will want me to be happy, and Melissa makes me the happiest I have ever been. As a matter of fact, I want you all to see this." Nick said as he got down on one knee. "Nick, what are you doing?" Melly nervously asked him. "Melissa, we have been through so much together and I love more today then I ever did. I wanna be with you forever...Melissa, will you marry me?"
