| Get Another Boyfriend (Cont.) |
| ~Laurana~ “So what is it you do?” Brian asked trying to make conversation with the attractive woman he was sitting across from. Laurana replied with a simple answer, “I’m in college.” “Ah.” Brian responded taking a sip of his drink. It was obvious to Brian that either she was completely repulsed by the sight of him, or she was already seeing someone else. Laurana was in a daze thinking about Cale. How he had hurt her, she was afraid if she got involved with Brian the same thing might happen. She wasn’t really paying attention to what Brian was saying and he knew it. “So, I like to walk around naked and eat fur.” Brian said jokingly to see if Laurana would be paying attention. “That’s nice.” She said. “Nope, not paying attention at all.” Bri thought to himself. ~Mark’s Thoughts~ “Nick? He must be her boyfriend that always happens, I meet a good-looking girl, but she’s taken. Just my luck, it’s not meant to be. Oh well, back home to get ready for the ad promotion tomorrow.” ~Penny at Nick’s House~ “It’s me.” Penny buzzed up to Nick’s apartment on the intercom in the lobby. “Yo!” Nick answered letting her in. “I got some movies on the way over.” Penny said walking into Nick’s apartment. “Cool and the pizza is still warm.” Nick grabbed a slice for Penny and one for himself. “And no I didn’t get Aliens or anything Sci-Fi.” Penny said flopping down on the couch. “Aw.” Nick whined. “I got Josie and the Pussycats, Gone In 60 Seconds and Bounce.” “Girly movies!” Nick laughed. “Okay, okay, I see how it is, I’ll leave.” Penny joked back. “Just put the movie in!” Nick handed her Gone In 60 Seconds. ~Laurana and Brian~ “How’s is going bro?” Howie asked when Brian came up next to him at the bar. “She doesn’t like me D.” Brian ordered another drink. “Listen Rok, she’s just at a low point, you know, bad break up, get her out there dancing, she’ll cheer up. Trust me.” Howie told his friend. ~Nick and Penny~ Nick had fallen asleep long ago and Penny continued to watch the movies she rented. She knew that if she tried to sleep she wouldn’t because she would think about her father and his ways. She never understood why her father was the way he was. He had always been that way since the time Penny was a young child. Penny’s mother had died and Penny felt a responsibility to take care of her father. After he broke her engagement with Carlos she continued to live with the same man that had ruined the whole affair. Penny focused back on the movie and realized that she had no idea what was going on in the movie. She glanced at the clock. It was one in the morning. She had to be to work in eight hours so she clicked off the TV and the room went black. The streetlight showed through the window and landed onto Nick. He had a goofy look on his face as he slept. Penny watched her best friend and smiled. He had always been there for her and never asked for anything in return. She grabbed a blanket from the back of the couch and snuggled against her blonde friend and fell asleep. ~Laurana~ Laurana walked out of her class knowing full well that she had not paid any attention the entire hour she was there. She had thought about how horrible she had treated Brian the night before. She had totally ignored what he said and not bothered to tell him that she was leaving. She had her heart broken and she though if she avoided love then she couldn’t get hurt. Now she had two problems she had no idea what to do about Brian and she may have missed an important class. ~Penny~ ~The Next Morning~ “Crap! Nick wake up!” She pushed his arm a little so he’d get up. “What?” Nick opened his eyes but didn’t get up. “It’s 9:30! I’m late for work!” Penny said rushing to get her clothes to change. Nick also got up dragging himself to the kitchen to get something for breakfast. “There isn’t any time to eat!” Penny said rushing past him as she brushed her hair. “Come on! You have to give me a ride down to the office.” “Fine, I’m coming.” Nick put his slice of cold pizza back into the refrigerator, slipped on his shoes and followed Penny downstairs. ~Laurana~ Laurana walked into the coffee shop to start her shift and saw a familiar face sitting at the counter, Brian. “Should I apologize for last night, let it be, or just go talk to him like nothing happened.” Laurana thought to herself as she put her apron on. She finally decided to simply let him start the conversation. If he wanted to talk, she would, but maybe he was just there for coffee. After all, it is the 18th Street Coffee House. ~Penny & Nick~ “Record time.” Nick laughed as he pulled into a parking space in front of the large building where Penny worked. “Thanks Nicky boy!” Penny said hopping out of the car and running into the building. Nick figured he’d have to pick up Penny after work too so he decided to visit an old friend of his. ~Upstairs~ “So sorry I’m late.” Penny said to her co-workers as she tossed her purse into the bottom drawer of her desk. “It’s all right. We haven’t even started the first shoot yet.” One of the photographers said. Penny let out a sigh of relief. “Mr. Andrews is still getting prepared.” He said. Penny’s eyes opened wide when she heard ‘Mr. Andrews’. It was a one in a million chance that it would be Mark. She just took the film and the file from the cabinet and went into the other room where the photo shoot would take place. Still thinking about what could’ve happened yesterday if she would have gone with the man she met for coffee. |
