Tasha Rose Original Handbags & Accessories |
Artist Bio: Tasha Rose was born and raised in Lenexa, Kansas. She received her BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute in 2004 with a major in Fiber art. There she focused her work on combing the techniques of Japanese papermaking with hand dyed fabrics and paper. The work reflects a reverence for tradition and contemporary minimalism. "I have always had a deep love and appreciation for cloth, especially aged cloth. Remnants of garments hold, for me, a memory of their past. A little piece of history is held within the fibers of its past users and the culture it came from. I have found a strong affection for Japanese textiles in particular. It comes from a culture that has a great emphasis on the aesthetic of every aspect of life. This is why I choose to recycle and use bits of vintage kimono fabric in my handmade accessories and art work. By using pieces of vintage kimono with my own hand dyed fabric, I feel as though I create a way to honor the history of the cloth and give it a new place in contemporary life." |
Each piece is handcrafted by the artist using high-quality materials, ranging from hand-dyed silks, vintage kimono fabric, felt, and leather. Because of this, all the pieces are created in limited editions or are one of a kind.
