| title: Remember When... by: VanessaSky disclaimer: Joss Whedon lucky bastard distribution: my site, anybody else want, take, let me know you have paring: B/A rating: pg-14 summary: Remember When.... lyrics: Alan Jackson, Remember When. an: Very much a song fic. Basically just the lyrics tell the story, and their are flashbacks in Buffy's mind. This fic was very much my sister's idea. She told me to write something to it. I'm kinda doing that. The lyrics are so beautiful and truthful, that just a few sentences can make any B/A shipper know what I"m talking about. feedback: This is NOT the ZOO, PLEASE FEED the AUTHOR. //Remember when I was young and so were you and time stood still and love was all we knew// She remembered when they where that age. Growing up, and finding understanding. They had always been together it seemed. Her heart had always belonged to him. //You were the first, so was I We made love and then you cried Remember when// She remembered that night. Rain drops falling from the sky. Lightening lighting up the trees around them. She was soaking wet from running to his apartment. It started out so innocent, until she knew it was time. Time for them to find the next stage of their love for each other. When it was over, she cried. She felt so complete. //Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard// She remembered walking towards him, nobody else was there. She could only see him at the end of the path. He smiled at her, and she smiled back. They walked out the doors, and started making new plans. It was hard at first, but she knew they could make it. //We lived and learned, life threw curves There was joy, there was hurt Remember when// She remembered the first night they had a fight without kissing each other goodnight. The day after they made up for it. Swearing never to fight like that again. //Remember when old ones died and new were born And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged// She remembered when his mother died. All the pain he went through. How much he was hurt. Two months later he welcomed his daughter into the world. It made things better, and changed things. She remembered how happy he was. And the tears in his eyes when he held her in his arms. //We came together, fell apart And broke each other's hearts Remember when// She remembered when Keira was only 4. And they had questioned weather love was enough. Made some decisions, and where separated for a while. Told each other they would make it. She remembered when he walked out the door. //Remember when the sound of little feet was the music We danced to week to week// She remembered when he was there for Michael's first steps. Keira helping him walk from the couch to the tv. Months later them running up and down the stairs playing tag. When he was visiting. Just visiting. //Brought back the love, we found trust Vowed we'd never give up Remember when// She remembered when he moved his things back in. The first night they spent in the same bed in too long. The way they made love all night long. They promised each other forever. //Remember when thirty seemed old Now lookin' back it's just a steppin' stone// She remembered her first gray hair. And how he just laughed. She dyed her hair for the next three months. After that she laughed too. //To where we are, Where we've been Said we'd do it all again Remember when// She remembered when they kept promises to the kids. Said they could go to school anywhere, and start a new beginning. She remembered 40 years strong he took her back to the apartment where they first made love. She remembered when they loved there, and lived until he found a good job. The times before when everything was hard. //Remember when we said when we turned gray When the children grow up and moved away// She remembered when no amount of dye could cover up his gray or hers. And then Keira told her she looked beautiful, and kissed her good-bye. She moved to LA with the only man she had ever loved. And Micheal went to college. Bought his girlfriend Marissa a ring. //We won't be sad, we'll be glad For all the life we've had And we'll remember when// She remembered when it all started, and ended. When time stood still, and all there was was just the two of us. She closed her eyes, and squeezed his hand. He began to laugh as his grandson made a good catch. He looked at me, and smiled.
