Hot off the press. Snippets of news from the wacky world of Trousers by the Clash. Check out the weird website of the week section and find out about gig's we're planning to attend in the near future. If you're hoping to go along to these gigs and can't find someone foolish enough to go with you, at least you can while away the 'bloody long soundcheck' moments playing a game of spot the Sharon and Caroline.
Wierd Website of the Week
16th February 2001:

Yes girls and boys, it's the official home of Strawberry Switchblade (Left).

Don't ask how I manage to find these, It's a gift I guess.

And while we're on the subject of obscurity, there appears to be rather an excessive amount of web coverage for a certain Morris Minor and the Majors. Hence the photo (Right).
20th January 2001:
Great Brazillian Virtual Guitar Picks Museum. The home of all things plectrum (also available in Portuguese)
Troosers:
A guide to forthcoming gigs in Scotland  which we reckon you should go to. We will be immensely jealous if we can't make it there ourselves.
Not a gig as such, but we recommend that, if you're in Glasgow, you go to see Electric City at the Lighthouse. It's an exhibition/venue space dedicated to the Glasgow music scene over the years and is open until the end of February. Check out the link for further information.

Update: We went; we saw; we made squealing noises. The exhibition is an extended version of Sharon's bedroom wall. All power to The Lighthouse staff for being nice to us and fetching us spare posters, and for bothering to entirely cover the floor of the exhibition in multi coloured duct tape, so we'd feel completely at home.

Extra update: We are in the current
erasing clouds, please check it out!
Pants:
Ditto. This time for all things happening Stateside. (Please note: not an indication that everything happening in the States is pants ie. rubbish)

GOMEZ are playing The Pageant on 31st July, 2004. Apparently The Thrills are supporting (not the previously reported The Polyphonic Spree).

THE DOVES: Play St Louis sometime in June at the Galaxy. Details will follow. Except I don't think they are anymore. Hmm. I'll keep you posted!
Update: They didn't...

SLAMMIES: This is a music showcase happening in St Louis at the U-City Loop on May 8th. it's 5 dollars to get in, there are 9 stages, over 50 local bands and it runs from 2pm to 11pm. Notable attraction is Colony at 6-6:30pm on the Outdoor Stage 1. Tickets available from Streetside Records, Blueberry Hill and various other places. Click here for a link to the schedule on the Riverfront Times web site.
Update: Colony were very young! Bless. And way more professional than any of the other bands there.

Not a gig, but Coldplay are going to be on the next non-re-run Saturday Night Live, which is on April 7th. Bit of a coup for Coldplay, getting on such a high impact show. Good on yer lads!
Update: They played Yellow and Don't Panic (bit of a surprise). And they looked terribly lost. Bless.

Also: New Manics album (wee lads) alledgedly out on April 24th in the US. We'll believe it when we see it....
Update: It IS out, good heavens! Has an American HEARD this album before it got released? Presumably not. It's also awesome. Please buy it.
