Fred Wong, a young adult Democratic volunteer from Troy, now
attending New York University, sent the following message, which is provided
for the information of Troy Democratic Club members. Publication of this
message does not indicate any official endorsement from the Club.
Over the past six months, I have been involved in an
incredible program that I would like to share with you. It is called the Front
Line Leaders Academy and is a project of People For the American Way
Foundation. As many of you know, I have had an extremely strong relationship
with PFAW in the past; but this program took it to a
whole new level. FLLA
is a campaign development program that trains young leaders to be well versed
in all aspects of a political campaign in hopes that they will continue to be
active with this in the future. I have
had the incredible opportunity to receive training along with the nineteen
other fellows from some of the top progressive young, under-35, elected
officials across the country. From State Representative Andy Meisner to State Representative Kyrsten
Sinema of Phoenix, Arizona, to Hoboken, New Jersey
School Board President Carmelo Garcia, I have gained
so much from this program; and I hope to be able to take what I have learned
from these great leaders and apply it to when I run for office in the future.
As our final graduation project from FLLA, the
fellows and I will be running four campaigns for the "Mayor of FLLA" at the 2007 Young People For Summit; and I have
been selected to be one of the campaign managers. My campaign team and I have
been working hard to make this election a success from formulating field
strategies to campaign fundraising. We hope to have your support with our
endeavor so that we can make the Jake Holbrook for FLLA
Mayor campaign the best that it can be.
If you would like to get involved with our campaign, and I do hope you would,
please contact me at Frederick.loo.wong@gmail.com.
Or, if you already know that you would like to financially support our
campaign, you can mail a check (maximum donation is $100 per person) to:

Please make all checks out to People For the American Way Foundation, and put
your occupation in the memo line. Remember that all contributions are
tax-deductible! I, personally, really appreciate your support as I refine my
campaign skills and bring my progressive message to the 2007 Young People For
Fellows and the rest of the progressive community.
I look forward to bringing my skills home to be engaged with
a stronger Troy Dems.
In unity there is strength,
