My Creation Myth
by Alyssa L.

In the beginning there was a god. He realized that the earth was too plain and boring, so he started to make creatures. He called them animals.

One day he relized he had made one different from the rest. This one was special. He called it “ a little boy,” but that name was too plain so he called him Zack.

The next day Zeluma ( the god) brought them to life with his “ special touch.” Then he sent them to earth to see how they got along. The birds, deer, bears, lizards.......got along great. But after a week or so they started bickering, fighting, and disagreeing with one another.

One day, all the raccoons went to the patch of cherry trees to grab a bite to eat. When they got there all the cherries were gone. Only one thing was left in the tree, a group of birds. One of the raccoons hollered up into the tree, “You ate all the cherries. Everyone knows that cherries are raccoon’s favorite.” The birds replayed, “You snooz you loose.”

Zeluma frowned upon his creation and realized he had failed.

So Zeluma came up with a plan. “I will send down Zack.” Zeluma went to ack to tell him his task. “I will send you down to earth; your task is to find a way to make the creatures get along with each other.” Zack was glad to do this favor for Zeluma, because if he fulfilled his task then Zeluma would grant him one wish.

So Zack gathered his things, and Zeluma sent him to earth. For weeks the little boy had been down there, trying to figure out a way to make peace throughout the animal kingdom. All the creatures got along great with Zack, just not with each other.

So the boy had to think of a way to bring them together without them bickering every 5 seconds.

That night Zack was snug in his bed enjoying his favorite book, when it finally came to him. He would invite all his friends to gather round, and he would share a story with them.

The next day he went around telling everyone to come. All the animals were overjoyed to come. The next day he stayed sitting on a log waiting for everyone to arrive, and one by one they did.

When everyone arrived he started his story: “ Once upon a time” --------- every once in a while Zack would look up from his book and look at their smiling faces. Their smiles looked as if they could light up the world.

When the story was done everyone was talking to each other, but they were smiling not bickering----he had fulfilled his task . When everyone had left for their houses, Zack looked up in the sky and saw Zeluma floating down. When Zeluma reached zack he asked, “You did what I asked now you get your wish. What will it be?” Zack replied, “When I was reading the story their smiles made me fell so good inside. I wish for there to be something in the sky as bright as their smiles to light up the sky,” and it was so .

And that’s why the sun is so bright.
