Penelope ,Odysseus’s wife, is pregnant and he carries her to a sheepards house where in a few minutes trier son Telemachas was born. Ships come in to take men to the Trojan war. Odysseus tells Penelope that if he doesn’t return before their son has a beard that she must remarry. He goes to the dock and boards the ship to Troy.
The battle begin, many died men died soon. Later a man named Hector challenge the great warrior Achilles. Hector charged at him in his chariot but Achilles stab him hoped on the chariot and dragged his body on the ground.
In the seventh year of the war Achilles was killed, everyone thought the war was impossible to win with the greatest warrior dead. But they made a plan to make a gift in the shape of a giant horse with men inside that would come out at night and attack the Trojans at night.
So they came out of the horse when the Trojans were asleep. The killed all the Trojans and the war was over. rejoiced by the sea and Poseidon told him he must suffer, but he didn’t think of it seriously.
Back in Ithaca Odysseus’s mother told Penelope she must remarry and raise a king. She refused cause she knew her husband was alive.
On the return trip to Ithaca a thick fog covered the sea but a man on the crows nest saw a island were they soon docked on. a man who explored the island found cheese and told the others to come with him. So they did and the cheese was in a huge cave. After a while of eating the cheese a giant one eyed monster came and they tried to give him the cheese but it was his own and he mostly ate humans. So he ate two of the crew members. Odysseus offers wine to the monster, he says he will have some.
After the giant drank the wine he got intoxicated and fell asleep. Odysseus made a plan and told the crew. The plan was to make a pointy stick and shove it in the monster’s eye and so the did and the were free from the cave.
Then they sailed to a new island were Odysseus met the god of wind. Who gave him a a bag of winds that would blow him to Ithaca in nine days but it must not be opened. As they left the island the crew wondered what was in the bag so they made attempts to open it.
As they sailed they saw an island it was Ithaca but Odysseus was asleep and the crew wanted to know very badly so they opened the bag and the wind blew people off the boat. The boat was blown to a strange island. a group was sent to get food.
A few hours later a pig came running from the forest. Then a man came said that “that is one of our crew members. He was turned into that because a witch did it.” The he told him where to get to the witch’s home.
Odysseus had to climb a giant rock wall and many animals that were really his crew were there. Then the god Hermes came and gave Odysseus grass that made him immune to the witch’s spells and other information.
Back in Ithaca Odysseus’s mother commuted suicide.
So Odysseus had to sleep with the women to make his crew human. So he did and the witch told him that the time they slept was 5 years when it felt like 5 days. Odysseus left with his men to find trier ship buried. The witch told him he must go to the underworld to go home with the information that he learn from Tiresias. So they unburied the ship and started to sail.
They sailed in the ocean and they saw a cave that was the entrance to the underworld. fire was dropping from the high ceiling. Odysseus went through hallway with souls trying to steal the goat that Odysseus had inhis hand to to Tiresias.
Finilly he got away and sacrificed the goat and he told him of what will happen on his journey. As he left Odysseus saw his mother and told him of her death.
In Ithica Penelope has been asked to be married a lot by a group of guests that barged into her house. But to all of them she said no.
When Odysseus was sailing through a cave a giant scylla came from the ceiling and ate a lot of the crew. When they got away they sea went down and a giant mouth came from the sea floor and all of the men fell except Odysseus how drifted to the island of Calypso.
In Ithica Telemaches,Odyseus’s son, called an assembly to kill the guests that came to their house. But Athena tells him he must go on a journey to find his father
On the island the women of Calypso kept him prisoner but he saw a ship and tried to swim to it but was caught. A few days later Hermes came and told Calypso that if she did not let Odysseus go the island would sink to the bottom of the ocean. So he left and was caught in am ocean storm.
He drifted to the island of King Phaeacia and the king gave him a boat and gifts. He sailed to Ithica where a man gave him food to eat. To his surprise his son returned soon but he thought that he was not his father. But Odysseus told him why he left and why it took so long. His son left to do something and then Athena went and turned Odysseus into an old man so that no one would reconice him but his son. His son took him to the palace and guests see his beard and challenge him to fight in the ring.
During the fight Telemaches could have killed the man but did not. But one of the housemaids learned the old man was Odysseus but he told her not to tell.
The guest were getting angry so she said who ever can string the bow of Odysseus and shoot an arrow through the hole on top of the handle of the axes will marry her. Many tried but only the old man did it then he turned back to Odysseus and he and his son started to kill the guests. At last the were all alone and all was well.
