Journey to the Great Battle

THE JOURNEY TO THE GREAT BATTLE

Act I

Narrator: There was once a woman named Cathedral who had a baby girl named Flarecules. The baby was now three weeks old. Flarecules grew and grew without a father. When Flarecules was two days old her father died in a war, a Pelopenisis War to be specific. When Farecules was 15 years old this is the exact conversation about a life-threatening choice.

Cathedral: Flarcules!

Flarecules: What mother?

Cathedral: Come here!

Flarecules: What?

Cathedral: My leg is infected from a snake bite. You have to go to this old woman's house. Her name is Tibet. She has this medicine that will cure my leg. It’s called, “ River Weed”. Tell her who it’s for, and take a baby lamb with you.

Flarecules: How do you get there?

Cathedral: Oh, my word. I almost forgot about that. Okay, here goes. There are lots of directions.
First, when you leave our house, you go straight into the woods. You keep on going until you get to a huge rock that has an X on it. Stand on the rock and look straight ahead. Then go left. Just remember that by saying exy my lefty. Then keep going left until you come to a tree that looks like an arm. When you come to it you will be staring at it. Well, go left again, remember it by one army left. Keep going left until you come to another rock, but this time with a star on it.

Flarecules: Are you done, mom?

Cathedral: No,... as I was saying. Do the same thing you did on the first rock, But this time you go right, remember it as starry writing. Then keep going right until you come to an apple tree. It will attract you, but remember that they are poisonous. There is an apple that has a hole in it. It is laying on the ground. Just ask the apple which way. The apple will usually point to the left, but just follow the apple’s direction. Then, this is the last, but not least, and most important one of all. You will go about a quarter of the way and there are two paths. There is one that is a rocky path leading to a cottage and another that is a dirt path that is leading to another cottage. Take the dirt path. If you go to the rocky path you may risk your own life.
When you get to the cottage knock and walk in. There will be an old woman sitting at a table. Then introduce yourself and tell her that you need “River Weed” and tell her what it’s for. She will give you a friend.

Flarecules: Gee, mother, enough directions.

Cathedral: Sorry, but they are very important.

Flarecules: I'm sorry, but they are very important.

Act 2

Narrator: Flarecules was very nervous, but she didn’t know that Athena, the Goddess of wisdom, was with her the whole time. Flarecules did get confused but still got to the cottage and got the “river weed” and her mother was right --she did meet someone to take her back. Her name was Eileen.

Eileen: Hi, what is your name? Mine is Eileen. I will be taking you back through the forest. You are probably not up to going through the forest again. So you know I am your traveling companion, and I am taking you through a short cut.

Flarecules: Great, let’s go home. I want a good night's sleep for once.

Eileen: Let's go!

Act Three

By Anna V.

Narrator: Flarecules traveled back home after hearing that her mother(Cathedral) was ill. Something seemed very wrong with her.
(Cathedral is sitting down. She looks tired.)

Flarecules: What is wrong, mother?

Cathedral: I have come down with a very rare illness from the bite on my leg. Because it spread all through my body, that cure that you have will not work. There is only one special treatment for it. Because I’m not a priest or a supreme being, I do not know this cure.

Flarecules: Maybe I could ask somebody. They might know how to get it.

Cathedral: It probably would not be a good idea. This probably had a reason for coming. There is nothing that we can do about it.
(Sadly, Flarecules leaves. All of a sudden she looks up. Athena appears on stage.)

Athena: Why are you upset?

Flarecules: My mother is sick. I’m afraid that the gods have chosen this the time for her to die.

Athena: This is not supposed to be happening. Hades said she would live for at least another fifteen years. Something must be going wrong!

Flarecules: Then, perhaps I should do something!

Athena: Yes, that would be a good idea. First, I will tell you the cure. Then you shall have to go to the Land of the Dead and see what is going on. Now, here are the ingredients of the treatment: ten ground up flowers of the Water Vine. It is a plant that lives at the very bottom of the sea. They look like blue tulips on a long, green rope.

Flarecules: Okay. But how am I supposed to get them?

Athena: Just go to the ocean. I will guide you to the flowers.
(Athena exits the stage the way she came in. Flarecules exits the opposite direction.)

Narrator: Flarecules traveled to the ocean. She wondered how Athena would get her to the flowers when a colorful fish appeared.

Fish: Athena told me about your mother. Do you think she will be all right?

Flarecules: Perhaps. I need to get ten flowers from the Water Vine to make a cure for her. If I get that done, then she will be okay.

Fish: I think I have seen some of those flowers. They looked like blue tulips on a green rope at the bottom of the ocean.

Flarecules: Yes, that’s them. The only problem is, I don’t know how to get way down there.

Fish: I might be able to get them. Being a fish, it is easy traveling down that far.

Flarecules: Really? That would be great. I’d greatly appreciate it.

Fish: Okay. I’ll be back in just a little while.
(Fish leaves stage, then returns with ten Water Vine flowers.)

Fish: Here you go. If you need anything else down here, just come to the edge of the ocean. I usually am hanging around the shore.

Flarecules: Thank you. I hope to see you again some time. Not right now, though. I will be very busy.
(Flarecules takes the flowers and exits the room.)

Narrator: Flarecules was feeling very good now. She only had to grind the flowers and give them to Cathedral. After that her mother would be safe and healthy again.
(Flarecules enters the room again, carrying the flowers. Cathedral is laying down and looks even worse.)

Flarecules: Mother, look! I brought some flowers that will make you better! Here, I’ll grind these up so you can eat them.
(Flarecules puts flowers in a bowl and grinds them. She brings them to Cathedral. Cathedral eats them and gets up, looking much better.)

Cathedral: Why, thank you! How did you get these?

Flarecules: Athena and Fish helped me. After this I must go to the Underworld.

Cathedral: No! You mustn't. Haven’t you been on enough adventures already?

Flarecules: I must go. Something is going on. I have to stop whatever it is.

Cathedral: Oh, all right. But you should bring Eileen along with you, just in case.

Flarecules: Okay, I will. Goodbye, mother. Wish me luck.
(Flarecules walks out of the room again.)

Narrator: Falrecules was feeling very good now that her mother was better. But this mood would end as soon as she made an unfortunate discovery.
(Flarecules enters room.)

Flarecules: Where is everybody? Nobody is outside today, and today is Sunday. Sunday is usually very busy.
(Eileen hurries onto stage.)

Eileen: Flarecules! There you are. Quick, come with me!

Flarecules: Is there something wrong? Does this have to do with the disappearance of everybody?

Eileen: Yes. My family, and everybody else in town, is terribly sick. Do you know anything about it?

Flarecules: Something has been going wrong. I need to travel down to the Land of the Dead to find out about it. You have to come with me. Tell everyone about this cure: ten blue flowers of the Water Vine at the bottom of the ocean. Ask Fish to bring them to you.

Eileen: Okay. I’ll tell them. Meet you at the edge of the sea.
(Eileen exits room. Flarecules goes to the side of the stage. A bit later Eileen came back.)

Flarecules: Now we have to travel to the Underworld.
(They leave room.)

Narrator: Flarecules and Eileen traveled many days to the Land of the Dead. Finally they got there.
(They come back into room.)

Flarecules: I know it’s freaky down here, but we have a job to do. We have to find what is making everybody ill.
(Flarecules and Eileen start looking around. A woman is creating something in a cauldron.)

Eileen: (pointing) Hey, who’s that over there?

Flarecules: Let’s find out.
(They walk over to woman.)

Flarecules: Who are you, and what are you doing here?

Warrior Woman: I am the Warrior Woman. Why do you mortals get so annoying? That is why I am spreading the snake-bite disease everywhere. Finally, Earth will be free of humans!

Eileen: Oh, no! What shall we ever do?

Flarecules: You can’t destroy us, Warrior Woman! We humans were meant to be here!

Warrior Woman: We shall have a war to find out who gets what they want!

Flarecules: Fine with us. You are outnumbered, so you know that we will win.
(Two more villians appear.)

Warrior Woman: We’ll see about that.

Narrator: Flarecules and Eileen fought many battles. For many years this war went on. Nobody won. Finally, it came to the final battle.

Act 4
Written by: Sonia W.

Narrator: It was two more days until the final battle would be held. Day and night Eileen and Flarecules worried something would go wrong, something.

Sonia: I wonder how many of the warrior woman will show up, like what if an army of them show up, what if an army of them do?

Eileen: If there is or isn’t, we will die with honor.

Narrator: Meanwhile Flarecules was practicing, for the battle would be held tomorrow.

Flarecules: (singing) Hi, ho, hi, ho, it’s off to battle we go! Doot doot, doot, dot, do, do, do, to, do! Hi, ho, hi, hi, ho!

Eileen: Would you quit that racket? It’s annoying me, with that little song you’re singing.

Flarecules: Hey, I made it myself. Do you like it?

Eileen: It’s annoying, but hey, when are you not?

Warrior woman: Ahhhhhhhhh!

Battle begins!
Battle lasts for 60 seconds (a minute)

(The battle ends then and Eileen gets the pretend sword in her heart by the warrior woman)

Eileen: (Stuck through the heart) Aghhhhh! (in agony) (lay there with eyes open, dead, with tongue out)

Flarecules: Nooooooooo!

Narrator: It was a tragedy that our dear friend, Eileen, died. Her faith and belief was all in Eileen.

Flarecules: How could this happen? Eileen was supposed to make it all the way with me.

Flarecules: (kneel down, cry for ten seconds, then get up and put on your angry eyes.) The battle is over, and you are history! In other words, see you in 55 years.

Warrior woman: Huh?

Flarecules: (Sticks the swords in them, they die)

Warrior woman: (you are dead and lay there with eyes open and tongue out; also, make gurgerling noises.)

Athena: (Come on stage.) Hi, Flarecules, you have passed the test. You and your mother Cathedral will become goddesses and you will also be in heaven. Congratulations, Flarecules.

Flarecules: Will I see Eileen there? Has she become a goddess, too? (I get my wings and go to heaven.)

Narrator: Yes, Eileen has become a goddess. And this is how this wonderful story ended!

The end
