Athena: Sam
Narrator: Alyssa L.
Aphrodite: Courtney
Narrator: Long ago on Mt. Olympus there lived a goddess Athena. She is the goddess of arts & crafts & defensive war and wisdom. She also is the helper of heroes. Athena has given birth to a baby girl!
Athena: Oh! what a beautiful girl. I shall call you Aphrodite. Your name means goddess of beauty.
Narrator: The little girl is grown up. She is older now and more lovely than anyone you could see!
Athena: You are growing up and are almost 16.
Aphrodite: Yes, mother, I will be 16 tomorrow.
Athena: You must be careful. When you go to the world below you will be in danger. You shall not go to the world unless someone is in need.
Ares: Your mother speaks the truth. There is one thing above all that you shall avoid.
Aphrodite: What is that? For I shall try to remember it.
Ares: You shall not see any men.
Aphrodite: I shall not see men? How do I avoid men? They shall be everywhere, shall they not?
Athena: Yes, they will be everywhere. What she means is you shall not fall in love.
Aphrodite: Yes, mother, I understand.
Narrator: Aphrodite goes to the world below. She does not obey her mother. She doesn’t know what it is going to be like, how she will feel or if her mother’s word is true.
Narrator: Aphradide left the heavenly world. She did not know the world below was more harsh than her mother had said. She never should have snuck out of the safe environment she had lived in.
Aphradide: I will soon be free from my mother’s protection. I will be allowed to fall in love, and do all the things I’ve dreamed of.
Narrator: Little did Aphradide know that she would soon be in terrible danger. This strange danger would have a punishment so horrible that it could cause death.
King: Wow! What is your name? As you probably already know, I am king Jachus.
Aphradide: My name is Aphradide, your honor. I come from the hea...... heart of China.
Narrator: Knowing the king, he fell in love with the beautiful goddess.
King: My beautiful woman, Aphradides, I know this is such short notice, but,......... will you marry me?
Aphradide: I am sorry, my king, but I cannot fall in love. It is against my mother’s orders.
King: You WILL marry me!
Aphradide: And what if I don’t?
Narrator: Aphradide soon found the answer to her question. She was to be put in prison for 2 months, then, she would be put to death. After 1 month in prison, Antithica and Tanaya came to see her.
Tanaya: Hi, Aphradide. I’m so sorry you got put in this prison. I should have told you the rules of the king.
Antithica: Yes, we should have. But I think we have come up with a solution, if you are willing to go for it.
Narrator: What the friends had not known was that in the past month Aphradide had fallen in love, and was now pregnant. That would make the task long and hard.
Tanaya: We now know of your place with the gods. We decided you MUST find your mother and ask her for some way to save your life. In your place, Antithica will be in your prison. Your mother will give you six tasks. If you accomplish them in 1 month, you will turn mortal, be wed to Telemachus, and your mother will set a spell on the king, to where you will not be punished.
Aphradide: How do you know all of these things?
Tanaya and Antithica: We had the same dream last night. It was a dream of gods. The gods NEVER lie.
Aphradide: Okay, I’ll try it.
Narrator: Aphradide and Tanaya left for the forest. There they would find Athena, and ask her for the tasks.
Aphradide: Mother, I have sinned. I am sorry that I have left. Tell me the harsh tasks I must go through.
Athena: Daughter, why don’t you come home? Here you are safe. There are tons of hunks up here, who are as worried as me.
Aphradide: MOTHER!! I love Telemachus! Now tell me my tasks, so I can return to my love.
Narrator: The tasks seemed easy at first, but soon got terribly hard.
Narrator: Aphrodide decided that the only way to marry her love was to accomplish the tasks her mother had given her. She began on the first.
Aphrodide: My first task seems hard, but I must accomplish it and the others. I must find the six golden coins hidden at the bottom of Lake Samaka, located on the east side of the island of Kilwalki.
Narrator: It would be a two day trip by boat to the island. Aphrodide made a plan about how she was going to get a boat.
Aphrodide: I must think of a way to get a boat. I know! In the morning before the sun rises I will go to the boat dock and take a boat without anyone knowing.
Narrator: That night she layed her head peacefully under a peach tree and went to bed. The next morning Aphrodide followed through with her plan. She was out on the ocean and on her way to Kilwaki.
Aphrodide: I must go to the island, to dive into the deepest depths of Lake Samaka.
Narrator: When Aphradide landed on the island, she had not yet known of her heavenly hosts.
Aphradide: After 2 days, I have finally landed.
Mysterious voice: (Off scene) Aphradide! You’ve made it to the island! Your heavenly friends are surprised with your great progress. It only took you 2 days to reach this island. At this rate, you will be back to save your friends in no time.
Aphradide: Show yourself, voice! I demand to know who said that.
Monaka: I am your voice, Aphradide.
Aphradide: How do you know me? I know no such woman as you.
Manoka: I was your baby-sitter, Aphradide. I am sure you do not remember me. I was fired in your first year of birth. A man came while you were sleeping. He entered your room at my time in rest. While I was sleeping, you woke me up with your crying. Your mother came in and said that I was trying to POISON you! The next day, I was fired.
Aphradide: Why would my mother not trust you?
Manoka: I don’t know child, but I will follow you with your tasks. (She disappears)
Aphradide: Good-bye. I will be expecting you.
Narrorator: Aphradide was accompanied by Manoka. They soon accomplished five of the six tasks. These were the 2-5 tasks:
Task2 - Go to the Medaterrainian forest, and capture the red-faced, blue-bodied, yellow-butted squirrel.
Task 3 - Capture the most delicate deer in the forest of red trees.
Task 4 - beat the evil sea serpent at three games of chess.
Task 5 - dig down 5 feet to the orange clay, and make a frog out of it. Then Manoka would blow life into it.
Aphradide: Now I’ve accomplished all of my mother’s tasks, but one, the sixth.
Narrator: Aphrodite was so excited that she only had one more task to do. She did not know how hard it was going to be.
Athena: Aphrodite, this is your last task. Go to Mt. Venus and get the mortal flower. It is the only way to become mortal.
Aphrodite: Mom, that is not fair. That flower only grows once every five years.
Ares: I can tell you have not been keeping track of the days, Aphrodite.
Aphrodite: What are you talking about, Ares?
Ares: The flower blooms in a week, silly.
Telemachus: Aphrodite, hurry so you can get me out of jail and we can be wed.
Athena: These are the things you will need:
A blanket, food, water. Anything else?
Antithica: How about an extra blanket in case the baby is born along the way.
Aphrodite: Ha ha ha, very funny, Antithica. I have another 7 months until it is born.
Athena: Aphrodite, we better get you going to Mt. Venus.
Aphrodite: I agree.
Narrator: They got Aphrodite ready to go, and they got her on her way. On the way she had a problem. A big problem. A really big problem. (pause for 3 seconds) She ran out of water.
THREE DAYS LATER
Aphrodite: (say in happy voice) I made it to the mountain. Now I have to climb it, find the flower, go home, and Telemachus and I will eat it so we can be wed.
Narrator: Aphrodite rested under an old oak tree. Then she started climbing the mountain. About half way up she found a little mountain spring. She filled her water basket, then went back to climbing the mountain.
Aphrodite: I am almost to the top of the mountain. I have about five more minutes left.
Narrator: Five Minutes Later.
Aphrodite: I have made it to the top of the mountain. It is about time for the flower to bloom.
Narrator: Aphrodite’s mother did not tell her that there was a fairy guard to guard the flower. She had to do something for the fairy to get the flower. The fairy was only a voice.
Fairy: Hello, Aphrodite.
Aphrodite: How do you know my name?
Fairy: Do you want to talk about how I know your name or the task you have to do?
Aphrodite: I have to do a task?
Fairy: Yes, and it is to go down the mountain and get me some mountain spring water.
Aphrodite: I have some of that already. Here.
Fairy: Ok, here is the flower.
Aphrodite: Thank you, and now I will be on my way.
Narrator: Aphrodite got the flower, and now she is on her way to Telemachus to be wed to him.
Narrator: Seven days later.
Athena: Aphrodite, my beautiful daughter, you are home.
Aphrodite: Yes, mother, and I brought the mortal flower.
Athena: Then go to the jail and get Antithica and Telemachus out.
Aphrodite: I forgot about my best friend in jail with my soon-to-be husband. I better get them out.
King Jachus: I see you have come back, Aphrodite.
Aphrodite: Yes, I have, and I want Antithica and Telemachus out of jail at once.
King: Ok, go down and let them out.
Aphrodite: ( SAY IN HAPPY VOICE) Antithica, Telemachus, I finished all my tasks, and so I am here to set you free.
Telemachus and Antithica: YIPEEEEEEE.
Narrator: Aphrodite and Telemachus went home and ate the flower. Then Aphrodite got ready and Telemachus and Aphrodite were married. They got married on April 24.
Aphrodite: I am so glad that we are married.
Telemachus: I am, too.
Narrator: Then all of a sudden Aphrodite’s water broke. Telemachus rushed her to the nearest hospital. She had a beautiful little girl. Her name was Penelope. Penelope lived a wonderful life.
