The Road to El Dorado takes place in 1519, when the Spanish travel to the “New World”.
Two guys, named Tulio and Miguel are gambling. They win. The other guy says that the dice are loaded.
Tulio and Miguel fake a fight to escape the angry component. Tulio calls the fight a draw. they both jump off of a roof, and get cornered by the cow. They dodge it and run away.
Tulio says to hide in the barrels, so they both jump in them to hide from the angry mob. The barrels get put onto a ship.
Later on, when the two think it’s safe, they jump out of the barrels. Kotez, the captain sentences the two to slavery for life.
The two guys try to bribe a horse named Altievo, to get them the keys, so that they can escape. The horse gets the keys.
The two men get a boat, and lower it in the ocean. Tulio throws an apple up for the horse, but it falls into the ocean. The horse jumps in after it. Miguel jumps in, to save the horse.
Tulio and Miguel end up taking the horse with them.
The three travel in the boat and talk about their regrets. Soon they notice that they are on a beach.
Tulio studies the map, and says that they are on the island that the map is talking about.
Tulio, Miguel, and Altievo go on an adventure to El Dorado. They follow all of the signs and landmarks.
Tulio and Miguel took a bath and monkeys stole their clothes. They got them back though.
Finally the two men and their horse make it. Instead of a city of gold, there was a monolith with writing on it.
Tulio gets mad and the three get ready to go when all of a sudden a girl runs out with a bunch of men chasing her. The men take Tulio and Miguel to their city.
They ride in a boat through an underground river. They stop at a city of gold. Everybody stares at the two men, like their is something very special about them.
A man said that the time of judgment is now. Tzekel-Kan, the high priest asked Tulio and Miguel to show their powers. Tulio tells Miguel that they aren’t gods. Miguel says to just take a chance.
All of a sudden a mountain erupts. Tulio gets stressed out, and yells STOP!!!!!!!!! The mountain suddenly stops erupting, and the crowd goes wild!
The men get a temple to stay in in their honor. The men get a feast for their arrival too.
Chel (the girl) overhears Tulio and Miguel speaking to each other. She says that she will teach them to act like gods if they agree to bring her to Spain. She knows that they are not gods.
The next morning Tzekel-Kan wakes the two “Gods” up. Chel says whatever he wants, it’s not going to be good.
The people of El Dorado are going to make sacrifices to the two “Gods”. They are about to kill a man, when Tulio yells for them to stop. He says that they would rather have gold. They choose to bask in it.
Tulio and Miguel ask for a boat for their journey to the heavens. It will take three days to have it built.
Tulio tells Miguel to stay still for three days. Miguel loses patience and runs off to find something to do. Tulio panics.
Miguel finds a guitar thing and plays it. Children come and dance to it.
Tzekel-Kan talks to Tulio about a sacrifice. He says that he will go talk to Miguel about it.
Kotez is close to El Dorado. He is following the footprints that Tulio and Miguel made.
The “Gods play a game and are losing until Chel trades the ball for an armadillo and it goes in the ring for them. They win.
Tzekle-Kan says that the losers should be sacrificed to the gods. Miguel says no.
Miguel sees the ship that was built for him and says that it is bad.
Tzekel-Kan makes the giant jaguar come to life. Tzekel-Kan is evil. He tries to kill Tulio and Miguel. He controls every move that the jaguar makes.
The “Gods” escape Tzekel-Kan. Tzekel-Kan gets sent to the underworld. Really he ends up on another part of the island. He meets Kotez and thinks that he is a god. Tzekel-Kan starts to lead them to the city.
Tulio is about to leave in the ship with Chel and a whole bunch of gold but they see gunshots in the forest a couple of miles away.
The village won’t be safe from Kotez. Because Tzekel-Kan is leading them.
Tulio decides to crash the boat into the entrance. Tulio gets in the boat and it starts moving. The sail is stuck . Miguel jumps in after him. They succeed the plan.
Kotez comes to what used to be the entrance but it is all blocked off. Tzekel-Kan gets taken away. He sees Chel and everyone else, and demands that Kotez stops, but they won’t.
Chel, Miguel, Tulio, and Altievo ride into the sunset.
