The movie starts out with a song then a guy says that they will sail to find gold. Two guys (Tulio and Miguel) are betting this guy on a map. They are playing a card game. Tulio and Miguel roll a 7 and win the map. It is the map to a lost city of gold El Dorado.
They got caught cheating with loaded dice and stated to sword fight. They were tricking them so they could get away. They got close to a wall and jumped over.
They landed in a bull arena thing right in front of a bull. They started running and hid in two barrels. When they thought it was safe they tried to jump out of the barrels and run away. The barrels had a trunk on top of them. The trunk along with the barrels were thrown into a ship.
When they opened the lids to the barrels they were on a ship and surrounded by people,bad people! Miguel and Tulio were thrown into the dungeon. In the middle of the night they escaped on a row boat with Miguel's horse.
The next day they are out in the middle of no were with no food and no water. They think that they are going to die. They are telling each other there regrets.
Miguel puts his hand down and feels hot sand. He realizes that they had landed on an island. All three of them get out of the boat and start to kiss the ground. Miguel kissed a skull and screamed.
They find out that they are on the island of El Dorado the lost city of gold. The map that they had got at the beginning of the movie was a map to El Dorado.
They get all excited and go out in the jungle to look for El Dorado. On the way Tulio gets bitt in the butt twice. Once by Miguel’s horse and then by a fish They go through a water fall and find out that they are there in El Dorado. It is a giant rock.
Tulio is mad and tells Miguel to get on the horse. When he dose a girl comes running by. A whole bunch of guys were chasing her. She stole gold from the chief. The guys take Miguel Tulio and the girl through a cave and an entrance to a city. They enter the city of El Dorado. The guys take all three of them to the chief.
Tzekel-Kan (the high priest) thinks that they are gods. Now every one thinks that they are gods. They take the girl as a servant. Her name is Chel. Tzekel-Kan wants to see them do magic. They are talking to each other and yelling and a volcano starts going off. They scream and all of a sudden the volcano reverses and all of the gas and lava that came out of it went straight back in. Now every one really thinks that they are gods and bow to them.
Tzekel-Kan takes them to there temple. They have to be ready for a feast and a ceremony to serve the gods (Miguel and Tulio). Chel knows that they are not gods. She wont tell any one because they promised that they would take Chel back with them to Spain.
Miguel and Tulio’s plan is to pretend to be gods steel all of the gold and go back to Spain. Chel wants to help them steel the gold so they will split it in half with her. Miguel likes Chel ALOT, but Tulio told Miguel that she is off limits. At the ceremony they play and dance and have lots of fun.
The next morning they wake up and Tzekel-Kan wanted to sacrifice a guy to the gods in honor of the so called gods. Miguel and Tulio make up a lame excuse that the stars aren't in the right place.
They give gold to the under world instead. Miguel and Tulio thought that they were supposed to give the gold to them. So Chel goes and talks to the chief and tells him that the gods want the gold to go to there temple.
The next day Miguel goes and asks for a ship. They want the ship to be made in three days or less.
Up in the temple Miguel is supposed to stay in one spot until Tulio gets a better plan to get out of there. Tulio wants to leave with Chel, but Miguel wants to stay with the chief and the people.
Chel tells Miguel to sneak out so he can go look around while she distracts Tulio. Miguel jumps off the balcony thing and goes and looks around. Chel and Tulio are left alone in the temple together.
Miguel goes out and looks around and rides a GIANT turtle across a lake. Tzekel-Kan goes to talk to Tulio.
Know one knows it yet, but the Spaniards from the ship are on the island and are looking for the road to El Dorado.
Tzekel-Kan sees Miguel playing street ball with a bunch of little kids. Tzekel-Kan says, “Gods don’t play ball like this, they play ball like this” and all of a sudden they are in this great big arena thing (still out side). The two of them have to play against 50 other guys. The cites best ball players. And gods never loose!
The whole city watches. The gods are loosing so Chel throws them an armadillo that is curled up like a ball. Then they start winning. Tzekel-Kan says that the loosing team will be sacrificed and Miguel yells at him and tells him that there will be no sacrificing and that he has to leave!
Tzekel-Kan sees Miguel bleeding, but gods don’t bleed. He leaves any way and plays along. The chief also knows that they are not gods, but he also plays along.
While Tulio and Chel are in the temple alone Tulio is worried about Miguel and Chel said forget Miguel. So Tulio says yeah forget Miguel and starts kissing Chel. Then Miguel walks in and says well forget Tulio!
Tzekel-Kan creates a big mechanical Jaguar thing. The jaguar thing goes and attacks people. It tries to kill Tulio and Miguel. It almost gets Chel but Tulio grabs her. They start to through rocks and sticks and things at it. Then it starts to chase them. Tzekel-Kan tells every one that they are not gods. Tzekel-Kan , the jaguar,and Tulio and Miguel all fall into the world of the spirits. Tulio and Miguel hang on a rope and climb back up. Every one cheers.
Miguel and his horse decide that they want to stay and live amongst the tribe. Tulio and Chel are going to take all of the gold and the ship and go back to Spain.
Tzekel-Kan managed to survive the trip from the spirit world and run into the bad guys from Spain. Tzekel-Kan is leading the bad guys to the city. He thinks that the bad guy leader is a god.
Miguel and Tulio think of a plan to close the gate to the city. They are going to crash the stone things with the ship and the gold. It will close in the gate with stones so know one can get in or out.
When Tulio and Chel are leaving the sails woulden't go down and they were going to crash so Miguel and the horse jump on the boat and pull down the sails. He decides that he wants to go with them any way.
There plan worked, but they loose all of there gold. Tulio is winning over it. They don't know it but the horse still has gold horse shoes.
The bad guys kill Tzekel-Kan because they think that he lied about there being a city.
Tulio Miguel and Chel get on the horse and leave.
