35. Mural at Cacaxtla. The mural depicts a battle between the dark forces (Olmecs – “Chicananges”) and the light forces (Mayas – “Putenes”). The Mayan representations always have the figure’s body and feet facing forward, while the face is turned sideways. Turquoise blue is a Mayan symbol, and the Mayan priest wears blue feathers. The center of the picture revolves around two warrior-priests, who are representatives of the two forces (light=eagle form, dark=jaguar form).
