Manacoyius

by:Alex J.

Back in 76 B.C., in Rome, there was a baby born named Manacoyius. He had very unusual powers. So when he was little he didn’t really think much of it.

When he turned 15 years old he was drafted into the army. He had to work really hard. One day he was fooling around with his friends when a captain spotted him. He was thrown in a piece of land with walls. He had to plant food and have it grow healthy before he got out. This he got to do with nothing but water.

He finally got done in 21 days. Too bad for him one of those days was his birthday. So he got to come out. Now he was off to a small training camp on the outskirts of Rome. It was a hard journey back since it was uphill all the way.

When they got there, there was a task to be done. They had to climb a seventy foot poll. If they didn’t make it, they’d have to spend three long days in the wild off of nothing but what they’re wearing. When Manacoyius got up he almost fainted at how high it was. But he made it up and down safely.

On his seventeenth birthday he was drafted into the battle. They heard that the Persians were fifteen days travel away. So they would march on tomorrow. Everyone would get to stay in Rome with their families. Just as long as they were back at 5:00 a.m. sharp. Manacoyius stayed with his family that night. He was on the third line. So he was way up front.

The next morning they marched out. Everyone was there to see them march on. It was five nights before they encountered a spy. They took him captive. The Romans threatened to kill him if he didn’t tell the who the commander was. He said it was Commander Acrosta. They’re at a campsite right now. That’s all they needed to know.

The commander called a meeting. He said tonight we will march. They are resting now. So tomorrow we should catch them at night if we rest in day. Everyone agreed even though they wanted a rest. So off they marched in the light of the moon.

The next day they were resting. They needed a good rest after 24 hours of hard walking. Manacoyius was sent off to spy since he was the most awake. He found the Persians marching. But they also found him. Three guys took him back into Persia. It took twenty days. When he got there he found out that the Romans lost.

The general saw that he had unusually strong abilities. He tried to get Manacoyius on his side. He did one day but Manacoyius wasn’t really on their side.

When they went back into war Manacoyius was in command of one group. He was only nineteen years old. When they met with the Romans he killed a few of the Romans. That made them think he was on their side. All of a sudden he shot down the Persians. He didn’t shoot them all down. Five guys came and got him. They took him back. In court he was sentenced to the death penalty.

He went to get hung. When he got there the guard said he was his friend, Acronoxin. He was taken captive, too. He said he took a knife and stabbed the guard. Then put on his clothes. When he got ready to get hung Acronoxin took him away. They ran and ran. After twenty-seven days of walking they finally reached Rome. The commander rewarded them. Manacoyius told them the Persians are coming from the south instead of East. So we should send two armies out one to the south, and one to come behind them. They should do this in twenty-two days.

They had to be trained hard the next three weeks. Manacoyius lead one of the army camps. He trained them hard and good. By the end, everyone could climb “the pole.” When it was time to march out they went east then south. Then they headed back to Rome to get behind them. When they saw the Persians they had perfect timing. The army from the north had just got there. Now they started to shoot from the back.

The Persians were strong. They wouldn’t give up. On the other side Acronoxin just got shot. That’s when Manacoyius went mad. He shot down twenty straight guys. With twenty shots. Manacoyius’ side wasn’t doing good though. They were down to about seventy-five guys. Most of them retreated. Acronoxin’s side had about one hundred people, without Acronoxin. The Persians only had about fifty people left. When their commander died they surrendered.

They took them back to the army base. They told them everything about their base. Then the Romans killed them all.

This war went on for five years. When all hope was almost lost for the Romans, three of the strongest people from the Persians came. They wanted to be on the Romans side since they had a mean commander. He made them work hour by hour, day by day. Now they had a much stronger back line only because of them three. There was going to be a final showdown. The Persians had six hundred men. The Romans had five hundred seventy-five men.

Manacoyius lead them into battle. Right away Manacoyius was taken captive. He had to go back and get sentenced death. When the news came that the Persians had surrendered when they had fifty guys left, he was so happy. But now he was supposed to fight off five guys with weapons. He got no weapons. This would happen in front of the Persian ruler.

He got there and they started the battle. Like lightning he ran up took one of the guys spears. Then he started whacking them. The guy with no spear was first. Then the other four got killed with his amazing skills.

Since he was still alive, he became a slave. When he saw that the Persians had at least one hundred guys left, he knew the three Persians were lying. So when he served them drinks he put poison in them. Then all the soldiers died. Without anyone knowing, he went back to Rome. It took him thirty days to get back to Rome.

When he got there, he told the commander about the three men lying. Then told him about how he killed every one of the other soldiers. The three Persian me were sentenced to death. They got hung by Manacoyius himself.

The Roman commander gave Manacoyius a medal for killing the two hundred men, and saving all of their lives. The next day there was a memorial for the thousands of Roman lives that had been lost.

Manacoyius headed into Rome to see his family. He was twenty-seven years old. His parents hadn’t seen him since the first war. That was when he was seventeen. He has been in the army for twelve long years.

He moved out of Rome with his family to get away from the huge city. But the people in Rome know the were saved by Manacoyius. He still went back into town to get the food they needed.

About a month after the war ended, the commander called him in. He told him he was to be honored as the next commander. But he declined. He stayed out with country life.

He got married to a lady named Serenia, at the age of thirty years. They had two kids a boy and a girl. They’re names were, Leria and Acronoxin, after his dead friend. They were twins. He had them at age thirty-four.

When he was fourty-eight years old, he caught a really bad fever. Right after his fourty-ninth birthday he died. He was buried at the entrance of the Roman memorial. It had a statue of him. The Romans will never forget him.

The End.
