As my plane entered Egypt I wondered about this excavation I was going on.
My name is Jordan and two people hired me. Their names are Alice and Arthur. They are going to Egypt to find a mummy legend. They hired me because I know the pyramids so well, and I know where to find the one they are looking for.
I got off the plane and saw Arthur right away. I walked over to him and he showed me an odd looking object. He didn't know what it was, but his sister did.
"I'm telling you Arthur it's a key to something", she said. "No, its not Alice its.... its...its not a key", he replied. "Come on, we need to get to the ship before it leaves", said Arthur. So all three of us got into a taxi and drove to the dock.
When we got there our ship was already filling up with luggage. We loaded ours then got on the boat.
Later that night after dinner I was looking off the side of the ship, when I saw a strange glowing (sort of like a candle) on the water. I didn't think anything of it until a hook came flying through the air and hooked onto the railing of the ship. A man came crawling up the side and before I knew it there were 15 of those guys, crawling up the side of the ship. I ran to Arthur's bunk and told him to grab the key.
"It's not a key," he told me in a sleepy voice.
I ran to Alice's room and told her to come with us, and then we all jumped off the ship and swam for shore.
There were 2 camels on the shore so Arthur and I took turns riding 1 camel while Alice rode the other camel, to the pyramid. When we arrived, it was nightfall, so we decided to sleep.
In the morning we got our stuff and began hiking to the pyramid. Alice, finding a statue of Ra, began digging underneath it. All of a sudden she fell into a pit. She yelled to Arthur and I to come down into the pit. We climbed into the pit, and found that we were in a dimly lit room. In the middle of the room was a sarcophagus with a picture of Ra on it. We walked over to it and Alice asked Arthur for the key.
"It's not a key, Alice", Arthur insisted.
"Whatever, Arthur", she replied.
She put the object inside the little hole and turned it slowly. We heard a "click" sound, and a mummy popped out of the sarcophagus. "It is a key" Arthur said I walked slowly towards the sarcophagus and the mummy. I saw a box.
I opened the box and found a book. Since I knew ancient Egyptian, I read the cover. All of a sudden the mummy grabbed Arthur! I ran over to a candleholder in the room, grabbed it, and struck the mummy's arm. The mummy's arm fell off, and Arthur was able to get away. The mummy began climbing out of the coffin, and tried to grab me. I reached for the book and ran with Arthur and Alice running right behind me.
When we got to the top of the pit, we saw four guys running towards us. They were really fast and it didn't take them long to catch up to me. Once they did, they grabbed me, and took the book.
They stood at the edge of the pit. Looking down into the pit, three of them went in. The fourth guy started to speak to the other three. I looked at Arthur and Alice, puzzled as to what these men were doing, but quickly looked back at the fourth man, who still stood at the top of the pit, because I heard screaming.
The mummy had eaten the three guys who were in the pit and the mummy was almost human. The fourth guy threw the book towards me, just as the mummy caught him. I am sure you can guess what happened to that guy, so there is really no need to tell you.
I grabbed the book and ran towards Alice and Arthur. "How do we get rid of that thing Alice?" said Arthur referring to the mummy. "We have to find the opposite book and read from it", Alice replied.
"It's probably under another statue", I said. "I remember seeing one on our way in here".
"Well lets start digging", Arthur said.
All of us ran back the way we had come in initially. We found the statue we had seen as we entered the pyramid. We started digging underneath the statue, immediately and again, we fell in the pit. As we stood up, shaking dirt off ourselves, Alice reached to the ground, and there to the right of her shoe, was a book.
"I found it", yelled Alice.
"Here Jordan, you read from i...ttt...", Alice said to me in a fearful voice, thinking about the mummy.
Just as I opened the book, the mummy jumped into the pit, running towards us.
"Read faster Jordan", Arthur said.
Just as I read the last word the mummy vanished. I walked over to where the mummy had disappeared and there was a golden scarab. We grabbed the two books, the scarab and went back to Egypt on the boat.
When we got there we showed the books to Alice and Arthur's friend Fred.
"This is interesting Fred said, I have never seen anything like these".
"Wait till I show you the scarab" I said.
"Let me see it" Fred said
I showed him the scarab. "Wow", he said. He then took one of the books and read from it.
Just as he finished reading the scarab started cracking open.
"Uh-oh" Arthur said.
I walked over to the scarab and looked inside the cracked shell and there was a message written in ancient Egyptian it said-"BEWARE."
