“Mariah, deer, hurry up your father won’t wait any longer for you,” said Shiya. “Mom do I have to go work in the rice fields?” asked Mariah. “Yes, of coarse you do,” said Shiya. “But mom …… I work every day, and it’s rotting my brain practically,” said Mariah sarcastically.
“Mariah, I’m leaving!” yelled Shi. “Coming dad!” yelled back Mariah still putting her clothes on and bumping into walls at the same time. I better hurry up or my dad will explode.
It’s really hard working in the rice fields, especially the bending over part and by the end of the day my back will be killing me. My only wish and dream is to go to Egypt. Isn’t that a cool place to go to?
Anyways, finally we’re here. “Hi Yonto!” said Mariah. “Hi Mariah!” said Yonto. See, Yonto is my friend, we’re practically like sisters. We both have the same dream of going to Egypt. My mom thinks we’re soul mates, I agree with her.
The other only country that I’ve been to is India. “Whoopy!” And boy did I not like it as much as I thought I would. It’s like they copy all of our ideas.
“Ouch, quit stepping on my toe,” said Mariah. “Sorry,” said Yonto. “ Oh, guess what?” asked Yonto. “What?” asked Mariah. “There is a ship leaving in two days to Egypt,” said Yonto. “Yeah, so?” said Mariah.
And then it just hit me like two-thousand softballs. “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” I was screaming and was jumping up and down like I had a jitter box put inside of me.
Yonto was looking at me as if I went brain dead. “See I got this great idea, you know how you said there’s a ship going to Egypt?” said Mariah. “Go on,” said Yonto feeling a little better. “Well we can sneak on to the ship and go to Egypt,” said Mariah cheerfully.
“Are you catching on?” asked Mariah. “Are you telling me we are going to SNEAK ON?” asked Yonto. “SHHH not so loud, you know my dad is here. “Sorry to bust your little DREAM BUBBLE but I do not, I repeat, do not want to sneak on the ship, do I make myself clear?” said Yonto as if she were an angle and had never done anything wrong in her life.
“Yonto you have to, I mean you’re my only best friend that have the same dreams,” said Mariah hopelessly. “Well can’t you go by yourself?” asked Yonto. “Yeah Yonto I’ll be going to another country with no one around that I know, I don’t know anything about the culture, or anything about Egyptians,” said Mariah sarcastically.
The ship was leaving in two days and Mariah and Yonto had to figure out a plan. They would meet after dinner to plan what would be happening on their sneaky adventure. Meanwhile after the hard days work in the rice fields. Shiya had dinner waiting for my dad and me. For dinner we had stir fry and rice. Boy was it good after a hard days work. After dinner I called Yonto.
“Yonto, meet me in our basement, PRONTO, bye,” said Mariah in a hurry. Then I hung up the phone. Meanwhile I was trying to think up a sneaky plan so my mom and dad don’t find out and so Yonto’s mom and dad won’t find out.
‘Mariah?” called out Shiya. “What mom!” called back Mariah. “Your Grandpa Zhinti just called and we will be visiting him on Thursday,” said Shiya. “OH NO!” said Mariah slowly and closing her eyes at the same time. That’s in two more days, what ever am I going to do.
Then Yonto just walked in. “Mayday, mayday we have a problem,” said Mariah. “What’s the BIG problem now, your mom and dad found out?” asked Yonto gloomily. “No, bigger than that, my mom and dad are going to my Grandpa Zhinti. They are going to leave on Thursday….. when the ship leaves you dumbo. “So we don’t have to go?” said Yonto beginning to feel as if she got a million dollars.
“Now, we are even more stuck in our problem I mean we’re being pulled into sinking sand, we need a plan fast,” said Mariah nervously. “I… think… I… might… have… an… idea,” said Mariah slowly. “What is it?” asked Yonto.
“Here’s the plan: Both of us will write a note to our parents. Then we will meet at the dock at 9:30 a.m. We also have to be packed and ready to go. Also wake up early to double check over every thing. Then have your mom drop you off at the dock. If your mom asks why we are there tell her that we are checking out the cool ship, okay. I’ll think of some thing for myself. I think what I am going to do is go with the flow and make it up as we go along.
Then I started waiting by the dock. Yonto just showed up. “Be back by dinner around 6:00,” said Yonto’s mom. “Bye mom, I’ll miss you,” she said while hugging her. “Hurry dear darling your ship leaves in ten minutes. “ Oh my gosh, lets go!” they both said. “Okay… when… that… big giant guy walks in there we will sneak on the side, okay?” Mariah asked. “That’s your big plan?” asked Yonto. “Do you have a better one?” answered Mariah. “No but…..,” said Yonto angrily. “Then lets go!” said Mariah cheerfully. “One… two… three…. go!” whispered Mariah. “Let’s go to the bathroom so they won’t catch us,” said Yonto. “Hey it’s not so bad,” said Yonto surprised. “See told you,” said Mariah.
When we got out of the bathroom there were people screaming in a mile long line. “Sorry!” we both said. It took us five days. It really flew by fast. On our last day Yonto looked like she was going to barf. “I think I’m going to barf!” said Yonto with a white face. “You look like it too,” said Mariah agreeing.
“Hi I am going to be your tour guide,” said this weird lady. “Hi,” we both said. “I will be taking you on a tour around these pyramids,” said the tour guide. “Cool!” we yelled. “Let’s go get our camera’s,” said Mariah. “Whoa those are huge!” said Yonto amazed. “Can we go inside of it?” asked Mariah.
“No way, do you know what a pyramid is?” asked Yonto shaking. “No and I don’t care!” said Mariah. “Did you know that this pyramid is haunted?” asked the tour guide in a creepy voice. I looked at Yonto she was sitting there shaking like she was being electrocuted. “Oh you babies that is so bogus, can’t you tell?” asked Mariah practically laughing.
When we got inside of it the air was so mucky and very hot in there. “Now we will visit the hieroglyphic room. “Whoa this is too cool!” said Yonto. “Oh yeah, do you want to know the definition of a pyramid is, well I’m going to tell you anyways….the definition is a burial place for pharos that died and all of their stuff is in here!” said Yonto looking all around and shaking at the same time. “Do you really mean it?” asked Mariah surprised and too shaking and looking all around. It was really cobwebby and stuffy inside.
Then we started to hear moaning sounds. Then heart thumping noises it was getting freakier and freakier by the minute. Then bats were flying everywhere. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Yonto and Mariah as if they were having a heart attack.
We were sprinting back outside like cheetah’s. But the only problem was we weren’t outside we were by a coffin. “Ouch!!!!!!” screamed Yonto. We both looked down. “AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH it’s a dead evil person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Mariah. “No it isn’t it’s a pharo,” Yonto said calmly. “AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!” we both started screaming again and running at the same time.
This time we finally found the outside. And stood there for five minutes just trying to catch our breath. The tour guide stood there smiling and looking at us as if nothing happened. “Hello what were you trying to do kill us?” asked Yonto angrily her face was pure red. She looked as if she was about to explode. Then she started telling us that was all set up it was supposed to be a joke for the visitors that came. “The scorching sun was practically melting me while we were walking back to our hotel that we were staying at.
This would be the day to remember. We stayed there for a month the other days were not as amazing as our first day in Egypt. We knew our parents would ground us for life but I tell you it was worth the trip. On our last day it was really weird ‘cause it was like your home there. I can tell you one thing this would be the only day that I actually miss my parents.
When we got back from the long trip and went home there was so much commotion going on. First there was screaming, then yelling and then talking and then of course crying! And it kept repeating it’s self. Then there was talking. I told my parents about our adventures and that we were really sorry. After the homecoming my parents eyes looked as if they were black. I wouldn’t blame them for crying that much.
Now my life was back to normal. My dream has now come true. This means some dreams can come true. My mom and dad call Yonto and me “Run away dreamers.”
THE END
“Ugghhhhh,” I said while looking at my watch. “Oh my gosh!” I said getting up. I ran to go get all my stuff in my closet. My closet looked like it was about to burst. Then I wrote a note, grabbed some breakfast, and then left. On the way I stopped at the bank and got around two million dollars for the trip. The reason how I got that much money is I’ve been saving all my life. This is the time that I need it most.
