By: BEN S.

Once upon a time there was a fisherman that lived in Pompeii. One day when he was out sailing he caught a huge fish. He went to sail back home to see his wife, children and his dog too.

The fisherman's dog would get him some food all the time because the dog always thought he was hungry. When the fisherman got home he gave his family all a hug and gave the fish to his wife. She took the fish down to the market and sold it.

When she got done she bought some groceries. Then when she got home she started to cook dinner that had a lot of vegetables in it. Before dinner the fisherman played with his children and played with them until dinner was ready which was only in a couple of minutes.

When they sat down for dinner. Then said they're prayers then they ate and they ate a loaf of bread and a vegetable soup. After the family ate dinner they went to bed.

Then right as the sun was coming up the fisherman left the house and went off to sail.

Earlier in the day the fisherman caught many fish some were small and some were big. The fisherman was going to throw all the small fish back but he kept them for his family. When he got back to port the fisherman unloaded his stuff onto his wagon and drove to the market and sold them and bought a loaf of bread and vegetables then went home to his wife, children and his dog that is named Skippy.

As usual the fisherman would play with his children as his wife cooked dinner but this night was different it was the Emperors birthday and was celebrating.

Then the very next day the fisherman didn't go to work instead he stayed home and that day was a great day because he had a great breakfast and worked on his little piece of property and then that night the Emperor was still celebrating his birthday and the people were all out on the streets having a good time until the volcano near by erupted and scattered ash everywhere and the ash was burning hot. While the fisherman's family was trying to escape Skippy wondered off to get food for the fisherman and while the fisherman and his family was being dragged off to a boat screaming Skippy, Skippy but poor Skippy was being burned to death by the burning hot ash.

By the next day the family found the dog with a loaf of bread in it's mouth and as they looked around it was just dark from the ash and for the rest off the fisherman's life he remember Skippy and think sunshine would never shine in Pompeii again.
