The Egyptian Princess
By: Renae S.

I’m going to tell you about a princess who lived in Egypt named, Cinetra. Cinetra was one of the wealthiest princesses in all the land of Egypt! She had tons of jewels, gems, and jewelry. Her favorite necklace though was a garnet studded, solid gold, with silver designs on it! She got it when she was born. That is why it is her favorite!

Anyways her father’s name is Alexander. No, not the Great, just plain Alexander. How he got so rich nobody knows! She never knew her mother though, because she had died when she was born, so sad. Well we won’t talk about it because it makes her very sad!

Well she loved grapes, because they made wine. She loves wine. The only bad thing about it was her father wouldn’t let her drink too much. In fact her father wouldn’t let her do anything. She hasn’t even seen the Sphinx. She’s going to find out how to go and see it. That is where the story begins.

One day while Cinetra was lying in bed she decided she was going to see the Sphinx. She always wanted to but NO, her dad would say. She decided to sneak out in a disguise as a “regular Egyptian” as she called it.

So she locked up her necklace in a secret spot in the wall where only she knew because when she had her servants make it for her she had them killed before they told anyone. She didn’t want anybody to find out about it. Not even her father knows.

When she was done there she had some hidden “regular Egyptian” clothes which were white and very plain. She didn’t like them at all so she didn’t look in a mirror to see how it fit and looked. She did get to put a little I mean very little amount of makeup on, but she had to or else she felt naked.

She also got to wear a very plain ring, bracelet, and necklace. They were actually quite ugly, but that all she had that looked “regular Egyptian.” That is what she slept in.

So that night she woke up, about 4:30A.M., and went to go to the Sphinx. She snuck down the dark, creepy hallway down the castle. When she reached the door to the outside of the castle she opened it quietly and got out. Then she reached the gate and stepped out of the castle walls for the first time ever!

Then she started looking for the Sphinx. She knew she couldn’t miss it because she could see the very tip of it from the castle walls. She knew it was it because her father had said so. Then she saw the head. It was more beautiful and bigger than she imagined!

On the way there somebody named Jester asked her, her name. He said,” I’ve never seen you before or have I? I know everybody around here, but I don’t think I know you!”

“Oh,” she said, “I’m visiting my family.”

“Oh, Okay.”

So on she went, and she was worried about Jester finding out about her true self. On and on she went. She met traders, shoppers, and all sorts of people. She even saw garbage, human waste, and people taking baths in the Nile. She almost blew chunks! She’s glad her father had kept her from that for so long.

Then she saw the head, the beautiful humongous part pharaoh head of the Sphinx. It was the neatest sight she had ever saw, but she was still miles and miles away from it! That night she ate some food she bought which was an apple or two. She loved them.

Then she went to sleep. The next morning when she woke up she didn’t know where she was! She wasn’t in the marketplace but not at home either. Then she heard, “I knew that was the princess the moment I saw her. We can charge ransom for her so we can be RICH!”

She knew the voice. Where did she hear it? “Oh, I know,” she said to herself, “It’s Jester! OH, NO I’ve been KIDNAPPED! I wish he never found out who I was. I know my father will think I’m lost in the garden again, thank goodness.” She was once lost in the garden for one whole week, but she had plenty of food and water.

Then she heard them coming down the hall. She tried standing up but she couldn’t. Her feet and hands were tied together with rope tightly! So she pretended like she was still asleep or knocked out!

They were talking about how much money they could get off her! How rude, she thought to her self, I must escape, but how? Wait whose the other person. She listened carefully and she knew the voice but couldn’t think who it was. She thought long and hard. “WAIT,” she shouted aloud.

They looked at her, but she fell down like she was crazy. They thought she had a bad dream. She knew who it was! It was one of her greedy servants named, Jericho. They called themselves J&J incorporated stealers!

She knew she had to escape, but first she had to figure out where she was. She’d listen to even more of their conversations even more carefully! So she just lay there and worked on loosening the ropes.

Then she heard them talking again about how nobody’s going to find them. Nobody’s going to think to look for a hole in the ground by the base of the Great Sphinx.

She knew if she could get out she would be in safety. She finally got the ropes loose and slipped out of them. She was free for movement so now she has to find her way out. It’s not going to be that hard, though, because she is a very smart and good at orienteering.

That night she started on her way out of the ground. She luckily found a stick that was lit with fire, so it was easier to find her way! She got out. She looked at the Sphinx and was amazed. She ran all the way home.

She told her father the whole story about Jester and Jericho, and he had them killed. She was happy to be home. She did what she wanted to do!

THE END
